I'm going to buy a domain name for my website. But I'm a bit confused on how to choose the best domain name for SEO purpose. I live in China. So should I buy a domain name with extension .com.cn or just .com?So for SEO purpose, which one is better?

I prefer the latter. But if you will target a specific place or let us say you'll focus in china, first domain would be great!

Depends where you want your website to target. .com is very board, .com.cn is very niche, I would advise personally you buy both, use one for a blog and one for a website.

It all depends what your target market is. if it is china, stick with country specific domain co.cn and if it is global, go for .com. I would also recommend you to host your website in US in case if you are targeting global audience.

Since you said you are targeting worldwide audience, the .com extension suits you. It's better for SEO and is simply more well known.

If your site related to your regional services, you can select cn or you just select .com.

You can buy any domain extension that you like. But remember that the .com version is more memorable for customers. Google doesnt affect the ranking for different top level extensions. But if your main target is only China, then by all means go for .com.cn or .cn domain.
