    Hi Yall,

There are many things that WE as marketers overlook when approaching an industry, or when looking for ways to connect seemingly unrelated industries to create a SWEET ACTION campaign.

Anyways, here is a task for those of you that are interested in doing something that many top marketers do. It involves magazines, and a little bit of brain power.

Go down to your local Chapters (or other book store) and pick out 5 different magazines on differnt topics. Let's say you buy a magazine on brides, pc games, surfing, hollywood, and photography.

These 5 magazines are going to make you successful online. Whether you knew it before this writing or not, you can literally create full-fledged Internet marketing campaigns based off of the info within magazines.

Not only do these magazines have a bundle of information in them that will allow you to learn about customers interests, what is current and cool, it will give you some material to include in a newsletter for an email marketing campaign. Every magazine has around 100 pages, 50% of which is great content that can be referred to for a newsletter.

Let's take this even further. What else do you see in magazines besides info...advertisments. You will see what products are relevant to the industry, what is being branded for you already out there, and it will give you a vast list of product that you could promote within any industry.

I have a Men's health magazine in front of me right now. Let's take a look at what we can get out of this magazine and bring to the table for an internet marketing campaign.

People that are interested in mens health, are obviously interested in the ads that are contained within magazines. Companies do their research before placing ads in magazines, and have demographic stats that make sure they are targeting the right audience. Here are some ads that are contained within the mag:

    -cologne
    -cars
    -laptop computers
    -skin care products
    -jeans
    -suits
    -watches
    -life insurance
    -cell phones
    -dress shoes
    -investments
    -power drinks
    -weight loss/cutting products
    -ipods
    -abdominal products
    -eye health drops
    -tv ad -> biggest loser
    -zappos.com
    -tools
    -tires
    -deodorant
    -master card
    -cold sores
    -enhancement products/videos
    -muscle pills

Obviously MEN is a pretty broad market, but you could then go out and buy magazines on any of the preceding industries. But hey, now you now what this demographic is looking for because bigger companies have already done the research for you .

You could then buy a watch magazine and see what sort of expensive watches the afiancados are looking for. Then set up a watch campaign.

Get a list of skin care produts that the "high maintenance" men are using, and see if they have affiliate programs or whether or not there are related products to this out there. I am sure there is an advertising oppportunity here.

Not only do I now have a better idea of what sort of products that the 25-45 male demographic is purchasing, I also have insight into some niches that I would never even have thought of. Would you have thought of male skincare products, how bout eye health products??? Probably not.

Think of the opportunity that this presents by just picking up 5 magazines. Obvioulsy you do not need to take action on every idea that you get out of the book, but I can tell you that some of the best ideas that I have come up with started with a magazine, and then flourished through further research

I must say, reading what ads are there is useful... the big companies do the marketing and get it right, we see where they target. Useful info, thanks.

    Great share, thanks

Browsing through magazines is a great way to find good niches.. It there is a magazine for a niche, it is definitely profitable and if there are multiple magazines for a niche, you have hit jackpot

Awesome information. I love the idea about using the content in the magazine for your own newsletter. There are many niches I want to target but I know nothing about them and figure it would be hard to keep them informed with a newsletter. Now that you mention this, I can just go out and buy a few magazines in that niche and have content for months to come.

    Thanks for the info!
