To all those who say Twitter is full of SPAM (Look here)

I just started a new personal account and it's been growing very nice.
I have zero spam in my stream, well if I see some, I remove the user.
so far so good

thats how twitter works. You only see messages from people whom you follow!

If you use auto follow.. ummm yeah..

 

No you don't.
You see messages from anyone who sends a message @you.
Which spammers often do.

 

i dont get any spam because i only follow people i want to so thats like 3.

 

I would agree. If you have well targeted twitter followers then spam would not be an issue.

 

There is a report and block option.. use that and kill them for everyone

 

thanks for info on twitter, you are good advocate for Twitter but there re many who found Twitter Paradise for spammers

Twitter is a social networking tool, don't forget guys. If you're just going to send spammy links and not really communicate with anybody, then you're not going to get anything out of Twitter. The spamsters will just spam you back, if you're following them just to boost your follower numbers. But as LocoM put it, just unfollow the spamsters and then, hey presto, the spam will be gone (well, almost ).

 

Just drop the spammers on the list.

Twitter has worked great, however the manual following gets a little tedious and annoying.

 

yes it does, but it'll pay off in the end and you can really target who you're follow and who follows you.
The Twitter list is a great way to target your followers.

 

I like Twitter.

The biggest mistake I see people make is they shorten the URL all the time. Why? when www.mywebsite. com fits why not just put that? I've noticed backlinks on all of my sites because of this from twitter and others who feed in tweets to their site.


Plus those shorten URL's look like spam. So if you want my tip....don't shorten the URL's like every other idiot on Twitter is doing.

 

Most those sites like bit.ly and cli.gs will use a 301 redirect so you'll get any credit for the link still.
This is a great site to search for backlinks on Twitter.

 

I also follow the same. I hardly follow anybody I don't want to follow in the first place.

 

Manually maintaining the followers on twitter is quite time consuming.

 

I use seesmic, but only with friends. Dont think it is a good tool to promote anything. Dell only makes 0.0001% revenue off it

 

You are right. But I am using it as follow- and its superb!
