I need hosting recommendations

    My host who will go unnamed for the moment is providing service that should be expected from a guy who drinks a case of beer a day and houses his servers in his garage...get the picture?

    These guys are big and have treated me very well in the past but for the last three months, they have been awful.

    Currently, my site is reachable but very slow and my backend can not be logged into...thats a problem...as I am running a directory and have featured links to approve.

    Ok, I'm done ranting...does anyone have long term personal experience with a host that they would swear by?

    My needs are fairly basic:
    • PHP 5 & MySQL
    • A gig or so of space and 50+ gigs of bandwidth
    • cpanel would be nice
    • Like to pay monthly
    • Support is huge - dedicated chat is a must with phone support being a plus

    Like I said, basic. Any suggestions would be much appreciated

    Check out asmallorange or hostgator for a great service (I don't know if they have php5). Also consider dreamhost , they allow you to install your own version of php.ini (they do not have cpanel.)

    Odd that whenever someone here asks for recommendations on something or other, they are SWAMPED by people trying to sell their OWN services. Hardly an unbiased recommendation now is it ;)
