Anyone ever switch from Godaddy?

I want to switch to a new hosting plan since Godaddy does horrible tricks to customers. What are the costs for doing this?

I use quick blogcast from Godaddy and website tonight. Are those companies from Godaddy.com only?

I really don't want to get screwed over by Godaddy.

I just want to change my hosting place.

If you are wanting a new host, the cost will depend on the new host you want. I had GoDaddy for 3 days and I transferred to LimeDomains for $6.99 since it's cheaper there.

You can just backup the file and database before you transfer to your new host.
Last time i also switched from GD coz their pricing is too expensive.

You said you did hosting? What about webair? I hear they are great also.

How do I back up files? I'm using two of their editors. I feel screwed at this point.

    If you're looking for webhosting, I recommend bluehost.com, justhost.com or fatcow.com - Fatcow.com doesnt support cron jobs though. :)

Use godaddy only for domain names!

for real? I was interested in maybe switching to fatcow because they make everything look so easy, unlimited this and that... Godaddy is charging me for extra email capacity, extra email sending capabilities... but i need cron.

But the worst part of godaddy is that i have to go through all of these ajax menus and pages to get from one thing to another and they take FOREVER to load!

I'm looking for something with an easy and clean interface so any suggestions would be great.

    Yeah Godaddy hosting sucks..lol

I have switched lots of hosting accounts from there. They are ok for domain names.

I usually just get clients to get a better hosting then move a copy of all the files to the new host. Then point the domain name at Godday to the new host. I keep the files on Godaddy for 48 hours then delete them and tell the client to close the hosting account.
If you have paid the account for a while and have money left over Godaddy will usually transfer it to your domain name account.

They are not going to come after your website, they have more important things to do.
Just move your sites and you will be fine. Have your new host beat them up if the mess with you.

Look for other host providers that can deliver better services and satisfaction to their customers and host with them period. No need for much ado about nothing.
