My Google PageRank went from 2 to 0

I have an art-related site and have spent the last year trying to build up PageRank. I have added a blog, published white papers, and done link exchanges with other art-related sites. I saw my pagerank go from 0 to 1 and then to 2. I was happy to be making progress. Then this week I noticed it was down to 0 again. Does anybody know why this happens, why is PageRank so arbitrary?

How to build it back?

Another question: If I go to Yahoo search box and type 'link:www.awesome-art.biz' it shows 90 inbound links to my site. If I do it in the Google searchbox it shows 5 inbound links.

Anyone know why

 

Google does it all the time, for a number of reasons.

They do it if they thing a domain has dropped.
They do it if they think the site is selling links to unrelated or low quality sites.
They do it if your backlinks had a drop in PR, it propogates down.

There are many other reasons as well.

 

nice and good site. submit into above pr5 directories, rss, yahoo answers. you can do well. if why do take google backlinks of your site, it is take some time. becoz your content is strong.

because google has different algorithm than yahoo and google show less link as compare to yahoo. You can check full links at google webmster account

 

Hi Bally - In the Google webmaster account I see all 90 of my backlinks. Is that what is most important ?

I see your site as being a PR 2 and not 0.

Google only shows a sampling of your backlinks when using the link: switch.
Yahoo and G webmaster tools usually shows them all.

 

Please tell me where you see my PR = 2. That's what it was one or two weeks ago, however if I look in the Google toolbar in IE it shows a PR = 0

 

I am seeing it in my Google toolbar on FF.
It also shows 2 here:
http://www.prchecker.info/check_page_rank.php

If you are not using www in the URL then it shows 0.
You may want to use some sort of redirect to make all people coming to your site go to www.
I believe Google Webmaster tools has a setting for this also.

 

Hi - In the prcheck website I also see a PR = 2, however in IE or FF in the Google toolbar I am consistently seeing a PR = 0

I am typing in www.awesome-art.biz and in my ASP code it does a redirect to

www.awesome-art.biz/awesome/default.asp

Are you seeing the PR = 2 for the above url ?

You may want to go through your site and make all of your urls the same.
Notice the case of the letters.
This :
PR0
http://www.awesome-art.biz/awesome/default.asp

And this are different for the PR.
PR2
http://www.awesome-art.biz/Awesome/default.asp

And you also have this:
PR 0:
http://www.awesome-art.biz/Awesome/Default.Asp

on several of your pages your Home button does not work.

I changed my ASP redirect code to Awesome/default.asp and that worked!

 

Mine went from 2 to 1 yesterday anyway. i am starting to build my backlinks again!

 

By continue your process t build high quality links to your site more and more and make sure to focus on quality and not quantity and having some patience.

Google shows only most relevant links as backlinks unlike yahoo that shows highest no of links for a site.

 

Hei your pr still 2. I have checked . It may be some problem with your system. please clear all your cookies and history then restart your system.

 

Google is different from yahoo,if you want to get high PR,you must updata your website timely.

Yeah. According to your SEO work google may drop or increase your PR. Have u used any wrng techniques in promotion?
