Question: Average number of emails before unsubscribe

    I was wondering if anyone had run across some email statistics that mention at what numbered email in an autoresponder was the most common one that readers unsubscribed.

    The reason being is to decide at what point you should make your main offer so that your reader sees it before they unsubscribe but not so early that you are pushing the sale.

    Any input would be great :)

    There is no such hard rule that tells you when your subscriber is going to unsubscribe.

    If your subscriber opted-in to get some freebies, they will unsubscribe from your next email message. If you have developed a trust between you and your subscribers, they will stay longer and open your emails.

    So first try to develop trust ...

    * Offer good info
    * Offer what you have promised for
    * Invite your subscribers to your forums and ask them to participate
    * Offer help

    All these to minimize the unsubscription rate. Still there will be some percentage of unsubscriptions which you cannot avoid.

    Be happy they just unsubscibed instead of hitting spam button.

    Quality content keeps people coming back for more :) Don't spam and people won't bother to unsubscribe

    I understand the spamming and content. I've been doing the newsletter for a long time but I was just wondering the best email to place the main offer to get the best response.
