You got banned? If you did then your one of those bad lucks. Microsoft will lose if they dont put a ban to it. Theres two sides of a story here.

In my view I think modding a xbox 360 is good however If I get caught I go rats over it.

Anyone seen the hitler ad about xbox?

Actually, I read this earlier today, and there's actually ANOTHER side to the coin (three-sided coin? :O)

Stores like Gamestop, for example, are reselling XBOX's that are traded-in..people buy them thinking they're getting a good, refurbished XBOX except when they get home, BAM they can't get on XBOX live because the console itself has been blacklisted.

If Microsoft doesn't find a way to sort this out, they have to drop the whole banning thing in general IMO.

This has led me to lean over to the PS3 (I'm about to buy one of the two consoles)..playing the PS3 online is free, and apparently, won't get you banned.

That was soooooooo mean of them to do that after MW2 came out. I don't have an X-Box but that is just evil, and it doesn't help that support is acting that way. This will cause people to sell their X-Boxes for better systems such as the PS3.

Microsoft doesn't have to do anything. If anything, it would be up to GameStop, GameCrazy, or any of the shops who buy used XBox systems to determine if they were modified or banned. If they can't? They shouldn't be selling them without at least acknowledging the potential risk to buyers, or allowing them to return consoles that turn out to be banned.

The LIVE network is Microsoft's own creation, and they have complete control over it. They need to do whatever they can to protect themselves, and I can't say I blame them. This coming from a guy who experienced the golden days of piracy during the 80's, where I owned a pirated copy of just about every game there was for the Commodore 64...

Modding is a risk, I guess. Or at least now it is. Like all risks, there are rewards and penalties.

Well, those 600,000 xbox users had to buy Xbox Gold subscription cards, I'm not sure how Microsoft did not profit from this

Obviously, Microsoft doesn't have to do anything...nobody, ever has to do anything. What I meant by that is that Microsoft has to do something to be able to sort out the modded consoles that are modded to play burned games; right now, they ban anyone who expands their hard drive through a third party. <-- That's messed up!

Take the sum of the "profits" Microsoft made from those gold subscription cards.

    Got it? Good.

Now subtract the HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS (if not billions) of dollars in lost revenue Microsoft didn't get when people pirated games onto chipped or modified X-Boxes all across the world.

What number did you come up with?

Who cares? Microsoft is a multi-BILLION dollar corporation..why do they force people to pay $60 dollars for each game, when in reality, the cost of making is probably less than half of that?!

I hate how all those multi-billion dollar corporations pick on the little people.
