Looking to Start an EMail campaign. How to get email addresses for my list???

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by Stu Lee, Nov 11, 2009.

So I am literally at square one. I have ZERO email addresses and am eagerly looking to build a list to begin marketing to...

Question is, what are some good ways to get email addresses? I was thinking of creating a page related to my niche with some articles and informational content and having an opt-in for a newsletter type thing where I would give away an e-book as a free gift. Has anyone ever tried anything like this? Any other ideas?

    Thank you all in advance...

You are off to a good start. Placing an option for your site visitors to subscribe to a newsletter is actually a good idea to collect email addresses. The next thing you should work on is your site's content to convince more people to sign up. Freebies are also appealing to a lot of people, so the free e-book is a good idea too. Good luck!

    lot of stuff to consider
offer free goods : ebooks, audio courses, then followup with them in a related nich
you can add optin form in the sidebar of your blog , or add a 125*125 banner to its page. or a better way a moving opting form, an example of this will be found in www. seobook .com . notice the footer optin
or the close optinform, have you ever been on a site and when you are exiting it it promots you to opting for discounts. this one is good for sale letter. for blogs you should do it when they first get to your page.

    keep these in mind :
give a guarentee : i will never share you stuff kinda thing, your info is safe with me, i hate spam as much as you do....
write something that makes them want to subscribe, i mean you will have to convince them it is good.
ask them to confirm their subscribtion after they subscribe
people that does'nt do a double opting havce never been your costumer.

and if you don't mind, i need + rep (reputation). so thumb up.
    good luck

You can also do a popup after 20 seconds. That pops up with a free ebook that they have to sign up for.

Yes, that is a great way to start off by writing some articles providing great info containing your niche. I would also suggest finding/creating great articles and turning them into special offers which visitors must subscribe in order to read/receive which is also an excellent way to capture new subscribers. Good luck and hope you continue to grow.

I've had decent results using aweber's lightbox popup. It's really easy to setup and is better than other forms of opt in boxes. I tried just having an optin section on my site and didn't get good results. I didn't want to use a pop up initially cause I never liked them but I tried it any ways and started getting better results.

Can't you just buy an already-existing email list?

forum with their email addresses. Then they may be your potential customers. In order to increase the registration rate, you need to find some ways.

Best way I've seen email lists generated is with giving away a free product, whether it be an app or ebook and requiring their email address before they can download it.

You find people that can help you in the Buy/Sell/Trade section on the forums. That's the best bet for you as of right now.
