What is the best way to copy a website???

I used a template/Website editor to create my website. The web editor came along with my hosting package and it really sucks. I want to copy my website as is and used my own software to edit my site. I like the way it looks but it could be a lot better.

 

if you have FTP or cpanel/file manager access to your site, then you could download the website files and make changes that way.

 

wget, of course.

It depends on what type of computer you;re doing this from and what the other site is using for software. Specifics would be help.

 

I do have FTP access. I just downloaded File Zilla as well. Do you have this program?

 

The wed editor I used to make website is 1and1's "WebSiteBuilder". It comes along with the hosting package. I have full FTP access. I'm using a Dell PC.

 

I don;t use the program but I'm going to assume that it makes static files on your old site. Please give this a read on how to grab a copy of your site at the old location:
