Hey everyone, My name is Tim Gilberg, I am brand new to this forum, but I wanted to share a couple things about marketing with videos because I see so many people missing the boat with this. Seriously, I don’t believe in overnight success and neither should you, but I have done REALLY well in relatively short amounts of time by launching entire businesses using nothing but YouTube. In fact, in the last couple years, I have created TWO six-figure businesses in which I get more than 95 percent of my traffic from YouTube. I have built several lists of more than 100,000 on Aweber, and my YouTube channels have gotten more than 30 million views and 99,000 subscribers. And in my latest campaign, I created another email list of 28,000 in less than 10 months entirely from YouTube videos I’m not trying to brag – I’m only giving you those numbers so that you take stock in the pointers I’m about to pass along. I also have screen shots and even a video to document those numbers, by the way. Perhaps I’ll post them if there’s enough interest in this thread. Okay, so let me start with two of the biggest mistakes I see on YouTube all the time . . . 1. People throw up a couple videos and then STOP. Big mistake!! Most of my videos are not home runs . . . but they don’t have to be. I hit a bunch of singles, get a double here and there, and then, inevitably, I will hit a home run not because I’m a genius but because I believe in the law of averages. If you do the right keyword research, you can’t HELP but hit a home run eventually. Some of my videos have gotten more than 200,000 views doing it this way. So don’t stop putting up videos! 2. Speaking of keyword research, here is the second big mistake I see: LAZY keyword research!! I did some consulting work for one well-respected company that illustrates this point. They had some videos that had gotten about 800 views, and just by expanding their keywords using Google’s free keyword tool, I was able to get their videos 100,000 and as many as 200,000 views in a very short amount of time! They were obviously stoked, but honestly it wasn’t all that hard. So here’s my point with all this – if you are marketing on YouTube, make sure you don’t stop putting up videos too soon. And use all the keyword brainstorming you can to maximize viewership. I think you’ll be shocked at the results. Because think about this – YouTube is not just a place to watch videos anymore. It’s a full-on search engine that millions use every day in the same way people use Google. Finally, here is my question for you guys. What have been your stumbling blocks with video marketing? Or if you have not yet used YouTube, why not? I’d like to offer my help. If you have some videos up and are not getting traffic, I’ll be happy to review your videos and give you some tips.
Hey Tim, Soubnds very intersting mate , would you mind giving us little guidnce as how to get started doing video marketing or share some of your success videos. Cheers
This thing has really motivated me to start up a channel there at youtube. Hoping I'll also get the same results
Let me give you a simple but killer technique I use that might help you see “the big picture†with all this . . . Before I give you the tip, here’s an important takeaway you can apply not just to YouTube, but to ANY aspect of internet marketing. And that takeaway is this: You can read all the step by step “recipes†you want from others, but remember that big-time success is more likely a result from a true innovation that you discover on your own rather than simply applying a generally accepted cookie-cutter approach. In other words, go ahead and learn the basics . . . but look for that one ninja “inside move†that takes everything you’ve learned to the next level. THAT’S where six-figure businesses are born. Since I’ve been living and breathing YouTube for more than three years now, I’ve been able to discover a lot of these profitable moves on my own. Let me share one of those inside moves with you right here . . . (And don’t let its simplicity fool you – sometimes the simplest tips are the most profound.) Okay, we can all agree that keyword research is crucial, right? Pick the right keywords, and you can get tons of traffic. Sure, everyone knows that. And everyone also is told to use all the usual keyword tools – the free ones, and the paid ones. And those tools are all great. But guess what?? About 80 percent of my traffic comes from a group of keywords that you WON’T find using those tools! It’s true. I’ll say it again: The keywords that give me my “home run†videos come from keywords I did NOT find in Google’s keyword tool or any of the other commonly used tools. I call them my “Golden Keywords.†And this just one of the several ways I get them: First thing I do is, I go to YouTube and put in a keyword strongly associated with my niche. Let’s say I want to sell an abdominal fitness product. So I go to YouTube and type in “ab exercise.†This is just one example. Then I look at the top 5 or 6 videos out of all the search results that appear. But here’s the key – I don’t look at the videos so much as the CHANNEL they came from. What I do is, I visit the channels of those top 5 or 6 videos. And then I look at the most-viewed videos in those channels. And that’s where I get killer keyword ideas, from looking at the titles of THOSE videos. And then I build my videos around those keywords. What you’re doing is, you’re amassing the best keywords that have already been proven in the very medium you want to succeed in. I hope you get what I’m laying out here. It’s pretty simple. But it’s VERY powerful. Hope that made sense. Let me know what you think. -Tim

Our videos are educational in nature and are not really viral, they've reduced our support but they have not "caught fire" on YouTube, not sure there is much we can do to change that.
I agree in that you shouldn't stop posting videos. Once I did my traffic has gone down to almost nil.
It's good to hear this from you, that your getting a good traffic using youtube. I guess I will try this process soon!
