What is with Google and Sesame Street ?

Discussion in 'Google' started by Mr. Gill, Nov 8, 2009.

It's been so many days since original Google logo has been replaced by stupid cartoons (puppets or whatever they are) from Sesame street.

We don't even know Sesame street here is India, Pakistan (or Asia maybe). Google should keep this logo limited to America only.

BTW there was no Google for Doodle for Diwali but for Sesame street ?

Check Out - http://www.sesamestreet.org/home you will noticed why this is so popular worldwide. Ya this is true that Google should have given same importance to Deepawali also.

A bit of a generalization there, isn't it. Even I had heard about http://www.sesameworkshop.org/aroundtheworld/india & seen the promos of Galli Galli Sim Sim when it was released for India.

Sesame Street is broadcast in approximately 140 countries today, so I'm not sure why you believe it to be shown to America only.

Google did honour Gandhi's birthday (http://mashable.com/2009/10/02/gandhi-web/) in it's logo worldwide and it appears that also did a Diwali logo last year - http://ychittaranjan.wordpress.com/2008/10/27/official-google-diwali-logo-2008/ <--check the links there for some fan creations as well which are quite good.

Yes it is. Approximately 140 countries that it is broadcasted in (localized & American versions). Educating children for 40 years with quite a balanced outlook and understanding. This is definately something we should be celebrating.
I grew up in a country which did not have a TV station, yet even there we got tapes for overseas shows including Sesame street which gave a great insight to all kids how there was almost another world with different types of children, how they dressed and the messages portrayed in each show.
Also, the week long appreciation may be a play on Sesame Street's counting. So Mr Gill, how many days has the Sesame Street logo been shown on Google
    1
    2
    3
    4

Not sure where the anger sensing came in. I was actually smiling when typing in the last sentence with the counting.

My guess would be that they would do the main characters for Sesame Street only and end it there.

Yes, Sesame Street has a great popularity in many countries because it is almost the only cartoon that displays frequently on television 20 years from now, as is the case now in the simpson.

The sesame street stuff has officially gotten annoying - I miss just seeing a plain old Google logo. I feel like I have to lean toward my monitor or someone will think I'm fooling around on the internet at work :D

I think Google does the more important ones however sesame street's logo has been there for a few days now as opposed to the others that stay for a day or two.
