Hi! My budget isn't huge, as you could see from the title I assume. I was wondering if anyone had any experience advertising with a low low budget. I feel I have done almost every type of free advertising I am aware of, but the most impressions I had in one day is about 1000, and half of those were prolly from me, lol. I run a college website with videos, pictures, strories, drinks, games. I have quite a bit of content for only having it about a month now. I was thinking about buying 10,000 impressions from facebook for 5 bucks. Do you guys think I would be throwing my money away with that? Or any other creative ideas? -Doug mycollegememories.com
I did college humor's link exchange program, but they have to get 100 visits from me before they think about posting my link. They're aren't any types of advertising techniques I could do for 5 bucks? I at least thought of the 5 dollars for 10000 impressions on facebook, someone else out there has to be something else?!
if you want to invest this 5 bucks you should buy some beer for your friends. For one beer they should post each from your friends 10 posts in diferent big forums. i think this is the best way to invest the money. If it works please let me know. i will try too. Another way for you is to post your website in the reveiew area of the forums Good luck my friend
That doesn't even get you one beer in most bars I know. You could buy traffic from Stumbleupon (I think it costs $10 - not sure), but I don't know if this traffic does much good for you.
$5 isn't going to get you anything online anymore. I'd consider upping the budget to at least xx if you want something out of it.
I like that beer idea. Now that is the creativity I was looking for! All the other posts were from people who have given up, and decided to tak eth eeasy way and pay rediculous amounts of money for advertising. I have a lot of friends who prolly wouldn't post on the site... but if I would offer them beer... great idea! Anymore creative thinkers out there? If you don't have anything to bring to the party, please don't bother posting if it is along the lines with, "It can't be done, might as well keep your five bucks."
I think certain individuals might be persuaded to put your url in their signature for $5/month. Make sure they are active on some forums and you will have lots of backlinks.
I like the myspace idea. I don't use myspace at all, and I don't really feel liek getting involved with that "fad", so paying someone to make a myspace site is a decent idea. I think I know an active forum poster that would throw my url in their sig for free, but I never thought of it, great idea! I'll def use that one. Thanks again!
I'm sorry to tell you that MySpace isn't a fad - social network sites are the most popular thing on the web right now. Myspace has like a billion members and hundreds of thousands register every day.
I'm going to tell you a little story... A few months ago I was visiting a web comic which I frequently read and I decided to try and get some advertising on it. I contacted the maker of the comic and for $10 per month I was to get a small ad on the homepage. I opened up photoshop and created an attractive little ad. I figured that atleast 90% of the traffic was probably geeky males so it had a picture of a sexy girl with the words "Play Flash Games...Girls Might Like You!". By the end of the month that ad sent several thousand unique visitors to my site and my revenue increased by roughly $300 from ad clicks. I am constantly on the prowl for opportunities such as that one in which I think I can gain a substantial profit by making a small advertising investement. My traffic and revenue wouldn't even be a tenth of what it is now if not for these little investements...$15 here, $20 there, you really don't need a huge budget to be successful. As long as you can find a good place to reach your target audiance and a good way to grab the attention of the target audiance, you don't need lots of money. P.S. I'm not familiar with facebook but buying traffic is usually not worth the money. The traffic comes and then its over - there are no returning visitors.
My honest advice that the best thing you can do to advertise your website for $5 a month is... Go to Wal-Mart and buy your favorite snack food. Plan a day when you don't have anything else to do. Sit at your computer all day with your snack food and work. Search on the internet and send emails to every single website you can find that may be interested in your website and ask to exchange links or networking ideas. Don't be afraid of rejections because for every so many "no's" you will get a YES! Think of creative networking ideas. Do you have a newsletter? You better... if not get one now. Email is a website promoter's best friend. Do some of the websites that you ask for link exchanges have newsletters? If yes, write a good article and submit to them for their newsletter (with your link in it)! This will get you far more ahead then buying traffic. Soon you will be making more money and be able to increase your budget and in time, retire!
myspace bulletins do work and it's inexpensive. Just get a profile, and then build a friend list. Then post some bulletins every day promoting your website. You can get a couple thousand friends over night from friendstorm.net and it costs exactly $5 for a day. Or you could also do it for free there if you participate in adding other people for a little while.
theres a good article on it: mlm-today.com/2006/08/01/how-to-build-a-downline-overnight-with-myspace/
If you only can spend $5 per month, save it up for about 12 months. Then you would have $60 to spend and you could get some pretty good traffic with that.
