What's wrong with the web design of my site?

I'm not getting rid of the smiley guys because they're cute. But I might make some rounded corners on the boxes. I also added embeded Youtube videos on many pages. I think it improves the design. Do you agree?

My site gets around 240 daily visitors so I want it to look good and have good content.

Well you made it quite clear that the smilies are staying, if you must have them then I would recommend using better quality ones.

I don't care for the background colour a bit vivid for my eyes.

    Those are from DAZ3D.

Might just be a personal opinion.

The background color is too flashy, too many white spaces, no header logo, no graphics, the border that separates the "header" and sidebar from the content zone doesn't look too great to me either. Try studying some html templates, modify them, get the feel of things.

You need to redesign your whole website. Hire someone to do it for you. You need more content, and a header.

It's terribly amateurish, you should get hold of a free website template and work from there.

Wordpress might be good for you too, it's very easy to make a good looking website with it as you use other people's graphics and templates.

Lose the smileys too and the MP3 links

You should find new template and rearrange button links.

Must agree, the layout does look a bit spartan. Which web-authoring program are you using?

Iv'e worked on the site. It still needs more work (graphics etc). But is it a step in the right direction?

    Site: FreeMusicStudy.com

For awhile, the text saying "Free Music Study" was very big. I fixed the problem. The browser in which I was working showed it normally but it looked bad in IE 7. But I need to set a margin above this "Free Music Study" text tommorow.
