"New PR #" style advertisements and webmasters' response

Discussion in 'Directories' started by alistair80, Nov 5, 2009.

    Hello,

I've been watching this since long ago. Many directory owners advertise their directories as "new PR # directory". I believe this practice has increased overtime as thousands of webmasters tend to focus on PR! However, I sincerely wonder if this type of promotional phrases actually "work" when it comes to directory submissions...

Could this PR craze slowly lead to an end of the directory business and it's importance?

Thanks in advance to all participants!

Many webmastersbuy expired PR domains and make them directory which disappear after the PR or hosting period is over. They are mainly concerned about featured spot selling, this is not good for other directory owners.

Some directories have non-relevant domain names which wonders me a lot.

It kinda already did, its unstoppable, i challenged someone on DP about it once and was advised by someone else that it was safer for me not to challenge the person further.

You would be suprised who sets up some of these.

As pipes says, it already has. G stomped on bidding directories by deindexing many of them. The reason. . . selling of PR was out of control. That hurt the entire directory business in a big way. So this niche of buying expired domains came to the forefront.

At least here on DP, there are lots of watchdogs so when someone posts a new free directory, if it is an expired domain we'll find out sooner rather than later.

That is why myself and a few others are now taking action against these type of people by replying in there threads in solicitations section... (Rip off Report)

You have to understand that DP is there biggest avenue to promote this crap and by taking the wind out of there sails they will eventually
stop acting this way... (im also tracking them at Flippa when they try to sell and costing them money)
