It depends on the domain. The server change won't affect your search engine rankings.

Sometimes downtime can effect your search engine rankings; I suggest you make sure there is no downtime during your transfer. Just pay for an extra month on the old hosting, setup the new hosting and do the name server changes with your registrar and wait at least 72 hours before canceling the old hosting.

Hosting has no effect on your Rankings at all unless you change the location of server from US to UK or any other location.

The location of the hosting server can influence ranking. I agree with Feathers - much sure your old and new hosting accounts overlap to ensure the nameserver change takes place before you cancel.

The domain outage would have low search engine rankings. If google crawler finds your downtime, definietly will crawler doesn't have as much of interest as before.

Your rankings aren't affected by which hosting server you use. The only bad thing that may happen is if your site gets crawled when it's down for the transfer. Feathers had a good suggestion, just do what he/she said.

Don't allow any downtime, and don't move to a slower host and you should be fine.

Hosting is not directly related with ranking, All SE are ranking sites based on the domain name not by IP...

Hosting does not effect the ranking of the site. Unless u change from Windows to Linux or Visa Versa. If the pages and content remain the same then with new hosting it will neither improve nor drop the google keyword ranking.

    2 Questions.
Why would the rankings be affected if one were to
    And also
    - are we assuming bing will rank better if the site is windows hosted?

If the site is changed from windows to linux server, it is obvious that the site pages will change from aspx or asp to php. It means that they will be new pages altogether. So obviously google will treat them as new pages and may not rank them as they were previously ranked.

Change in location of the server should not make any difference to site ranking.

If "pages from the UK" (or wherever) is ticked in Google, the results will only display sites that are actually hosted in the UK. At least that's the way G seems to work in AU.

It is not necessary that the website is hosted in the same country. Google predicts on the basis of your IP that you belongs to this country because every ISP of each country have an IP pool and there is also mention that it is Dynamic ip or static IP so that no one can spam and user Dynamic ip for mailing.

Where is the matter of Website google takes reference of the particular websites from its contacts, country specific traffic and contents.

Well, changing your hosting server never effect your search engine ranking as ranking has no relation with hosting server.

But domain have a very little impact on ranking so t is better to have some keywords in domain.

Yes..Changing server will surely effect ranking as well as number of indexed pages. But the things will be back to normal after a week point of time.

    Hello,

Yes it will effect little bit to your search engine ranking because the thing is that when you will change the hosting, that you need to change DNS records of your domain name, so for new configuration, it will take 48 hours. so that your website rank will go down, but mostly there is no changes to rank down in search engines.
