Is it pagerank now irrevalant on link exchanges?

When you want to do link exchange with someone,people will often request either same pagerank or even higher.But according to latest google news pr is no longer important.I didn't cared about it anyway,i was aiming to create good content and get relevant backlinks only and that works,but seems people still insist on having matching page rank.Do you insist when someone want to do link exchange with you or you don't care about it?

Oh yes they are.I noticed one domain which was not in top100 for one keyword got position number three only beacuse it got backlink from relevant page which was already in top 10.

 

I don't believe that PageRank is irrelevant. It's not as if they've just scrapped it, we had a full update over the past few weeks. Google are probably playing it down cos they don't webmasters selling links based on it, as it goes against their advertising and it can hinder their search engine quality.

 

Agreed, every Back-link is counted regardless of where it comes from
providing its a been indexed by the SEs and relevant niche.

PR may not be the most important thing but as we all may know
any PR on the page is better then none or greyed out so people will continue
to look at this before deciding to exchange or whatever.

if pagerank is irrelevant, then Google would have a hard time determining which web pages are more important and relevant than the others. People search and hope to find relevant search results. Can you tell us the link of the news that says PR is now irrelevant?

 

I wouldn't concern myself with reciprocal link PR's - Google has devalued link exchanges (2 years ago?) by 50% to 90%.

 

a lot of people can say it's not important anymore, but sooner or later, you will run into the problem that you have to look at it as a factor of doing anything for your seo campaign, why? there's not much else that is really easy to work with UNLESS you are experienced and figured out how to work with those other factors.

what i do is balance it out. how? for example, if the page is relevent to my site, i don't care if it's pr none or pr 0 or pr 10. that's how it is.

pr doesn't exist for no reason.

 

Which is why everyone doing ABC and ABCD link exchanges.But highly relevant AB link exchange do the job too.
