No reason not to have a custom favicon

    There is no reason not to place a favicon.ico on your website. Doing so shows you are one that looks after detail. The favicon will show up not only at the top of your page but will also show up in your users bookmarks. This small thing can have a big impact. You do not even need to make your own custom favicon using image editing software. The link below will take you to a site that will make one for you. Your favicon can be a photo of yourself, your website logo and any other thing you might think of.

    Click here to create your favicon

    After you make your favicon just add this to the head of your page:

    <link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" href="../path-to-icon.ico" />
    Code (markup):

    That’s it your done. To see a favicon click a link in my signature.

    Thank You

    Yep, having one of those is a great feature. Unfortunately many sites overlook them.

    While having one in your root folder will apply the icon globally, you are also able to link them to individual documents, in the same way that you would link to an external javascript or css file.

    The purpose of using favicon is to create the brand awareness of the website. Just like other products, if the name of the product is branded by creative symbolic or a logo, the product will be easily recognized by the user, and using favicon is to create the uniqueness of the website.

    Thank you for the links

    Guys, come on... Please, it's this sort of thing that we have google.com for

    http://how2make.blogspot.com/2007/02/adding-custom-favicon-to-your-blogger.html

    http://rumblinglankan.com/145/how-to-add-a-favicon-in-blogger/

    shaliwahan.pati, please man, try to use a search engine. If you have trouble with the article or tuts that you find, then come back and ask for help. But at least have the initiative to try and learn on your own. I don't mean to be rude. But learning through search engines and tutorials is one of the most important things that any web designer, developer, or just plain geek can do.

    I don't think it will bee to long before favicons appear a little bigger and with more detail. Don't be surprised if animated favicons soon become standard.

    I remember once seeing them appear in search engines next to website links which I thought was a nice touch.
