    To make a long story short, I've been fighting against some of the toughest competitors for a particular keyword for about 2 years now. My competitors are so heavy that you see them on TV all over the place. After some heavy unique article writing, major link building, and some luck today I jumped 3rd in this keyword which has a search volume to what I'm estimating 40,000 per day.

    I got excited too quick because it was up there for about 30 minutes then started dropping like crazy........

    the reason?

    Because my host went down taking my site down and now its been about 7 hours down. Now I'm ranked 15th so I guess the battle continues.

    Think positive though. One day.......:)

    Ouch, that just plain sucks.... but, I always love when people acknowledge the power of "unique article writing", it's a big key in building relevant backlinks...

    Unique article writing is the only way to go. Its not a fast return, but just like an investment into your site. You don't need to think about keyword rich articles or anything. Just write what your heart desires(as long as your site is your desire).

    Sorry to hear that mate.

    I don't do much article writing for my sites although it is something I may well start to do after hearing this but it seems like everything in SEO it's a time investment.

    Its why I tell almost every potential new SEO client they have a 6 month to 1 year wait for results. As with any business being built online or offline, it will take time. Just because its on the Internet, does not change the fact we are building businesses.

    I can tell you thought the ROI on the time investment can be extremely lucrative.

    Everytime I say what the site is 40 more sites show up in the follow week........then 40 more sites don't make a penny. It isn't the niche, its the effort. It would take you 3 yrs and a book of writing in order to compete.

    no, nothing like that. The articles I am writing are not spammed outside of the site. I'm talking about write ups inside my site.(no its not a blog).
    Example: you have a Movie star site and you make articles about where they were born, rise to being a star, roles they played, etc(in your own words).

    I do not advertise outside of the site.
