Well google bots are normally from US only now if we geo target a site the search results will be mainly of US rite coz its going to detect it as US so is it a good idea ??
You're right, if you want traffic from a particular area to visit and buy things, then you need to regionally target the traffic. Here's some more info: Regionally Targeting Your Traffic
Firrst check how much international traffic you get. Or if you don't want many visitors outside US then go for Geo targeting.
Geo targeting also improves a sites positions in the SERP's. US for google.com, France for google.fr, etc.
Why would it matter what IP the bots derrived from? They index sites knowing the location of the servers IP. Google knows the geographical location of the domains, so geo-targeting allows webmasters the ability build websites and target a geographical location that may be outside of the sites actual location. If you geo-target your naitive country, it will help you in the SERPs of that countries version of Google. For example, If you were born in the USA, but live in another country and develop US sites, you can target the US. I hope this make sense.
I Think u are not getting the point.. the scripts checks the ip and detects the country .. so if the crawler comes from US ip he will be treated as a US user and in search the US stuff will appear .. even if i am targeting the site for osme other country .. Understand ?
I don't think that'll work as spider from other country IPs will index the stuffs for their region and Google may marge the results as they are from same domain. But, I might be wrong.
Google and other search engines have a ability to automatically detect your site location and rank you in that region and if your website is too good then you can rank globally.
well geotarget is really a great way in order to get good convertion, most u.s clicks are great in adsense convertion.. but you can drive quality traffic through posting on other blogs, advertising and many more
