Why should people stop selling links if google remove PR ?
You buy links only to increase your PR, and then to sell it again to someone else who thent sell it again, and again and again?
Many people buy links to increase they SERPs, and they don't really care about PR (it is true that a strong PR is a good indicator for a possible good website).
So, with or without public PR, people will still buy links to increase their ranks and traffic.

PR was and is nothing but the number of links to your website. Google never emphasized on the importance of PR. They did this so that people would start working on traffic and content rather than PR

PageRank is named after Larry Page, so any employees at google would need some balls, to actually remove page rank from the system.

Unlikely that Google will remove PR anytime soon unless if they want to commit hara-kiri.

It could be the end of link selling. But only for SEO. But you can still sell links for traffic

If PR can still be checked by the toolbar, people will continue to sell links... Plain and simple.

IF and I do mean IF they were to remove PR all together, then people would find another measure to base link prices off of.

I have also read that news but I think google will not remove pr right away. I'm sure they are doing some survey wether removing pr is good or not.

That is indeed good idea. By hiding the PR, websites will concentrate more on building good quality content rather than worry about PR and other things. But PR is just a measure of how worthy your website is being viewed by Google. If not for PR, there may be some other measure coming up.

First google is planning to replace the PR with another value. Actually I do not believe that they will do it, with removing the PR, because they cut PR from webmaster tools was mostly because according to their webmaster tools PR is not important value. Focusing on PR is done only by websites selling links, not of other websites.
Even removing PR link sales will continue, because links buying is the fastest way to develop SERP of a website. This can be done without link buying, but actually too slow.
And why websites are focusing on PR if they are not selling links? PR is bringing nothing. Working with adsense or adbrite or bidvertiser you do not need PR.

There would be other methods which would help to determine the juicy backlinks and buy links on these sites like Alexa ranking, google Serp etc.

Its not going to be the end of link exchange/building because someone else will come up with a similar metric as page rank, to rank pages.

Even if they remove PR from public knowledge they will keep using it internal, so other PR estimation tools will come about. PR is never going to die, mark my words.
