Why are most folks obsessed with ezine articles?

I have seen recently that articlebase and other outrank ezine articles besides they reject more articles and don't allow affiliate links.

    Does anyone think the same?

I dont understand why article base reject affiliate links? What is the financial motivation for a person to cull available information into an article without having some form of return in the form of allowed affiliate links in the article?

One reason why people give so much importance to Ezinearticles is that they give lot of importance to quality of articles. So although it is bad from affiliate marketers perspective (you need to write good articles), it is good from Google and other search engines perspective... So you can get a lot of exposure and organic traffic by submiting articles to exinearticles.

Best designed article directory. The value of the backlink in anchor text. Not obsessed, but it's one of the first places to go for a free one-way link.

Yeah, article directories are probably one of the easiest places to get free one-way links. Although honestly I've never had great luck in finding a large influx of traffic or increase of ranking due to submission and publication in article directories.

Like most things your own mileage may vary.

Google sees Ezine as an authority site, so the main value for getting your article published there is to help improve your organic search results in Google for the keywords in your article.

You'll achieve much higher ranking on Google for an article published on Ezine than other directories.

If you're after free traffic, in a sense you're not really bothered about getting traffic from the Ezine site(i.e people reading your article there). You're more bothered about how the Ezine article adds weight to your Google ranking(i.e people reading your article after seeing it appear in the Google search results for the keyword they typed in, which of course appears in your article)

It's possible to get to the top of page 1 for a well written, keyword rich article for you niche that has been published at Ezine.

There are also a lot of other things you can do within Ezine to boost your Google ranking and make sure your article maintains its position

I think most people just jump on the Ezine bandwagon because they hear others say it is the best. Also, the emergence of "bum marketing" has exploded over the past few years. Everyone does article marketing. Especially newbies.

Articlebase is just as good of an option as ezine these days....

I agree with KRA-12, just because too many folks about ezine articles - everyone just jumps on it. Now consider a newbie trying their first 'act' on ezinearticles and I'm not saying they may not be that good - but they may not know what is expected from the article -again 'quality' is a moving target.

I don't post to ezine too often because the review process takes 7 days which is just too long if you want to start immediately promoting something. It's a great place if you are not on a time crunch or you pay to get faster submissions.

articlebase has picked it up quite a bit and I think the amount of people using ezinearticles solely for the purpose of marketing has dilluted it quite a bit. I think with the updated guidelines at ezinearticles we'll see it pick up steam again. If you can't meet the guidelines set by ezinearticles right now, then you probably aren't adequately writing good enough articles to receive traffic regardless of where it is submitted. Just being honest...

I have submitted several articles since the new guidelines have been established and have not had any trouble getting my articles accepted. I don't pay either.

I agree it's diluted, however I also feel that 'the right' keyword could rank you as No. 1 on Google - imagine the free traffic flowing in after that.
