* Famous $100 48 hr PSD Only Contest: Basic Site Redesign *

Hey Guys!

It's oneawesomeguy again with another contest. Woo hoo!

Please pay special attention to the 'Site Details' section below as it is different from my other contests.

SITE DETAILS:
Website needing redesign: PM for URL.
I just need a basic design of the current page with the following elements:
a) A logo
b) A 724 x 90 banner
c) Alternative graphics for the current layout (the layout will stay the same)
d) a small icon (capital M) to indicate that membership is required
e) a small icon ("i" in circle) to indicate information is available

CONTEST DETAILS:
1. Submit web design entries for 48 hours from the time stamp on this post.
2. To be fair: No entries via PM and no late entries, please.
3. Once 48 hours is up, I will review all designs thoroughly and give my thoughts/opinions on every single design. This usually takes me 2-3 week days.
4. Winner provides .PSD (or .XCF for GIMP users) file and fonts used. I will send $100 via PayPal and give honest iTrader.

RULES:
By submitting an entry, you agree to the following:
1. You must create the designs yourself. No templates. You must not use any images you do not have the right to use.
2. Only the winner agrees to transfer me rights to that design. I will not use any of the other designs and feel free to remove them from this thread once the contest is over.
3. You are free to put in watermarks to protect your work but make the watermark say "Sample".
4. By accepting the winnings, you agree to give me full rights to your design and you agree that you will not use this design for anything else.

The 48 hour deadline will be enforced as long as there are at least five entries. One person can submit as many entries as he or she wants.

SUGGESTIONS:
1. For images, check out iStockPhoto or similar sites and use their free comps. Only pay for the images if you win (Note: No istockphoto logos on the winning design sent to me).
2. For colour combinations, check out colourlovers.com--an awesome website!
3. Do not do revisions on every little thing I mention. Seriously. If I really want something done, I will ask you specifically. No need to waste time. I have a good imagination.
4. If you can code your own design, let me know how much extra that would cost. This will not affect your chances of winning in any way.

Is that 724x90 a place for a advertisement banner?

No, the banner is a part of the website design, e.g., a masthead image. Thanks for the question!

 

I want to ask that will the charts have the same default look or could it change?

 

The banner will be a general website banner. It can have text (please see website for text), or be an image. It should match the logo and the other aspects of the design. Should be able to remove banner without losing any aspect of the design in case we do decide to eventually put ads up.

The basic look can change a little right now according to the settings a user chooses. Depends on your design and the colours you use.

Nice job on the two designs I have already received.

General notes: Try keep the layout very very similar to what is on the current page (like the designs I am seeing). Basically all that I want to change is the images (not the HTML). With that said however, the menu could use a little 'spicing-up'. Feel free to modify to make it look a little better (I don't like the tree structure) and I can make the changes in CSS.

Final note: Please put something in the banner space that fits in the design and that can be published on the final website, e.g., don't leave it a black hole or say "Banner" on it.

I love what I am seeing so far. Keep up the awesome work guys. I am always amazed at the level of skill on DP.

I will submit my entry, but there is a problem with the site: it's protected, and we can't see nothing.. can you fix it, please?

Quick note on this design: I like it very much, but it may be a little too wide as some pages will have four or more images. See above post.

For future entries: In general, this is to be a strictly analytical website. Think graphs and gridlines. Maybe grids in the background.
