PageRank was removed from Google Webmaster Tools. There is now speculation that they will also remove the ability for toolbars to find out the PageRank: http://searchengineland.com/google-quietly-drops-pagerank-from-webmaster-tools-27821 Thoughts? I think it is a good idea since after the change there will be more focus on building a good website rather than selling links. Sorry if this thread was started already, I searched and didn't see any threads.
Then how come google pr updated at 30th? Google did not remove PR, that post was about GOOGLE TOOLBAR PR
No, it was about Google removing it from Webmaster's Tools. It is still in the toolbar. And yes, I know the PR will not cease to exist, but it also might not be public in the future. That is the point of discussion.
It's best that google remove the pr from the toolbar as well, otherwise they should prevent someone to trick the pr.
1 - Try logging into Webmaster Tools and confirm it yourself 2 - If you read the title, it said Google "silently" made these changes. There is no official update, so that is why there is a lot of speculation.
PR has no influence on traffic, some of my sites with lesser PR have higher traffic than sites with higher PR so i absolutely do not care.
It isn't public now. PR updates constantly, we only get shown an estimate of PR across the last 3 months. So a week after the update your PR is useless and it wont be the end of link sales. It just takes longer to value links.
They might keeping PR status to themselves ... Actually they do. The PR we see on Toolbar is not accurate, it's probably outdated and average assumption.
zac439, are you sure about this? The SEOQuake keeps showing n/a but I can still retrieve PR information here http://isusx.com/google-pr-checker/.
Did you even read my post or the post I linked to? It's Webmaster Tools only that has it removed. The toolbar, from what others are saying, is speculative anyway. So that's not a good indication of PR.
I am surprised already just by reading your title of this thread. You should put that info to the thread title. Everyone will only get the point that "GOOGLE REMOVES PR".
I've never heard of anyone commenting solely on a title. When I read a newspaper, I read the title and story before I comment on it. Why should this be different?
Yes I also read this on google's webmasters forum.. and a seo expert from google was saying that people are basing very much on pr.. which doesnt very much and they want to delete it in time..
I believe everyone has his/her own style and habit in reading. For me, your title is so clear since it is a short news not a story. Well, let's not fill the comments of this post with useless and unrelated posts...
so now how can we know whats the website page rank in the google or any where else is this news true are just kidding ...
Zac, if you look at the bottom of this thread there are many thread discussing about this thing. Summary.
