Well i have never played chess online...Most of them are paid services... But I don't know anyone in my friends who play chess better then me. I love this game. I won my first prize when i was in just class 4th..

 

what it sucks about chess its if you wanna be really good, you have to study alot and studying is boring. i have around 2200 rating on FICS, havent played for like 6 months cuz im not in the mood to study anymore
