Find the category that best fits the site, click the link, enter the name of your site, describe what is on the site, submit, go and do something else. Don't pay anyone, their chances of getting the site listed is no different to your own, and there are some fraudsters out there who will take your money and do nothing - you won't be able to tell they did nothing because there is no time limit on when the site might get reviewed (years is not uncommon) and no-one will tell you if it is rejected.

That is not exactly true, is it? Any senior editor who wants to or can be persuaded to do so, can list his sites in a minute, no matter how many are waiting. ;)

I don't need the money but looking at the "quality" of some of the sites listed in DMOZ, it seems some editors will do anything for the right compensation. ;)

Even if there was a shred of evidence to support this allegation gworld the chances are that any offer of payment to a senior editor will result in the site, and any and all other sites associated with it, being permanently banned. So you stand a good chance of being defrauded and/or being banned as well. Clever strategy. And for what? A backlink that most professional SEO's say you don't need.

You are right, editors just keep listing illegal and questionable sites for the good of humanity.

Brizzie I think gworld was probably talking about himself,
being interested in being corrupt. Notice in his response he didn't say senior editors, he switch to saying "some editors"; he did not say he'll never do something like that, instead he just said "I don't need the money"; ..and for the heck of it I'll add that he placed a wink at the end, (Yea he may wink a lot, but this one seems to mean much more to him)

I agree with gworld. Have seen many post where people claim to add your site to DMOZ dir.

Money is more important than quality to some people...

Don't waste your time with DMOZ. Get a posting on Digg, Wikipedia or send a press release through an online service instead. You will get backlinks within 2 days typically.
