    Hello,

People talk about the htaccess files and permissions.

I don't have that file in my word press installation files / folders.

    Why???

Is it something that gets installed by default or should be do something to get the file.:confused:

Any help is rep-ly appreciated. :)

How specifically are you trying to view the file? The filename is actually .htaccess. That period makes it hidden so you may not be able to see it without changing a settings which is why I'm asking how you view it. If your host has a platform like CPanel or Direct Admin, those files should be viewable in their file manager.

What platform are you using though? CPanel? Direct Admin? Some hide hidden files.

\copy-paste of my TIP on different forum\

Everyone who ever tried to edit dotfiles (like .htaccess) via cPanel has encountered a problem that you just cannot find this file. Although Search option can identify that the file exists you cannot access it and perform any modifications to these file.

What cPanel wants is to secure important for your site operation files from accident usage.

How to show hidden files in cPanel File Manager?

When you first click on File Manager in cPanel a Directory Selection pop-up appears. Here you can select what directory to open and set the option to show dotfiles as it shown on attachment.
