How much would you charge?

    Hi

I have a potential client who has a large website at present (roughly 150 pages), however they are unhappy with the actual design. What they want me to do is create them a unique template, that they themselves can then copy over to all of the other pages.

How much would you charge for this?

    Thanks in advance

Professional templates usually cost between $100-$200. In this regard you definitely get what you pay for. There are all kinds of sites that sell templates I'm sure you could find one that meets your needs.

How long do you think it'll take you to copy and paste the articles? Are there pictures and media files involved? Also where are you and the client located?

150 copy and pastes with no files or attachments. I;d say 2 hours plus the theme costs. Then it depends on what yo charge an hour.

    Hi

I never use templates I create all my designs from scratch.

Many designers will state that for a site with x amount of pages it will be £50 per page, but then state a one page site will be £200.

I would in theory only be creating one page but the client gets to use it across £150 pages.

I was just wondering how others do it in this instance?

You can charge the result of your hourly rate multiplied by how many hours it will take you. That way you will know that you will get paid for the amount of time that you spent on the design.

It depends on the client, too. Value your price based on an hourly estimate, not a flat fee. If you think it will take 40 hours, budget 40 hours at $30 per hour.

How much would you charge for telling someone how much they should charge on a project like this.

    Nice one.
One of the best business lessons you can learn is when to say "no". :)
