Hey guys. I guess I should turn to the masters with this problem. I have a very well built article-based site - MyBombayCat.com. It's getting steady traffic of about 200 uniques a day (all from very relevant Google searches). As you can see, I have Clickbank, Adsense, Kontera, TNX, and Amazon all running on the site. (click into an internal page to see the ads) As of March 2009 - October 24 2009 Kontera has made me $16 Adsense has made me $17 Clickbank has made me $15 (one sale) TNX has made me $20 Amazon has made me $0 Total ~$65 in 6 months with 180-200 uniques a day consistently As you can imagine, I haven't exactly quit my day job just yet. Can you guys suggest any method that you think may be perfect for this site to start making some good revenue? (Honestly $50 to $100 a month would be great.) Any help appreciated!
pretty tough to say.. but if u r planning to earn money from this, it's gonna be tougher... i would rather work day job and do this as a hobby... just my 2 cents
Hi Ralph23's.. I think you need to first make a target how much you want to earn per month than you can break down per day.. Suppose you target is £10,000 per month than you have to break down in days... I think the problem is your writing multiple thing together in all website that's the reason you are $65 in 6 months..be expert in one field, any field than you can see how money is rolling in your account.. Make one field success than pop into other field..that's how is works!!!!! I hope this helps you...
@nandalinnaung - I get what you're saying, and by no means did I intend for this site (or this whole internet business) to replace my day job. But like I said, an extra $50-$100 a month won't hurt. @airstair - Just a few more posts until you can make a topic in the Buy/Sell forum! >_> @alamest - I'm pretty sure the site is as narrowed down as it can get. Pets > Cats > Breed of Cat (Bombay). Again, I'm getting good traffic for such a small article-based site. It's just this traffic isn't turning into money. I don't expect anywhere near the figure you said, again, $50-$100 a month from this site would be great. That's what I'm aiming for.
A few things could be happening here.... A.) There may be a lot of bot traffic hitting your site. Check your logs to verify and block accordingly. B.) The niche may not like to buy things, or you may be getting them when they are still in the information gathering process. C.) Your offers may suck. Rotate in other offers to see if conversion differs. D.) The page layout may be killing conversion. What is your CTR for your pages?
Hmm... could be many things... what are you using to analyze your traffic? Let's say it is 200 unique visitors a day... how long are they on your site? What is the bounce rate? Are people actually reading your headline or are they not drawn into the site. A few quick points ... your adsense clicks can't be paying too much for cats ... I could be wrong, never entered the niche. But I will tell you one thing... the clickbank product has a gravity of 1.05 so if you are sending a ton of hops over to it ... the vendor sales page is not converting. If you are not sending any hops to the vendor page then it is your design that needs to be tweaked.
The short answer is you need more traffic, not monetization plans. 200 daily, unless targetting buy computers, is not that much traffic. You have made 'some' money which is promising, showcasing your ad placements and affiliates are setup properly in positions to reach visitors. You can add a blog or a forum to increase the average Pageviews, but they can be difficult to start. Outside of really blatant ads, getting your daily up to 2k a day will start to exponentially grow the activity on your site. Growth isn't linear, so don't get discouraged.
Make adsense your main income source, try using varying ad formats until you get the one that brings in the most. Also, try adding articles that are high value for cpc, your current niche may have a low cpc.
The most important thing when it comes to making $ off your traffic, is targeted traffic. What is your audience looking for? What is your site about? From the sounds of it, its a general topic site. My advice, go through your KW, see what the SEs are sending you. Then, based on the top KWs, try to take your site in that direction. You can then offer some targeted products/services. Another piece of advice, drop Kontera, its garbage. Why loose visitors for less than 2 cents a piece? Your adsense placement must not be optimized because with that much traffic, you should be making about $1-$4 a day with adsense alone. Try embedding your adsense within the articles. I find that an align left or right adsense block at the top of the article works very well.
Nice site... Drop your other ads just focus on Adsense and CB, remember, less is more. Also, try to create your own product intended for that niche. It's so easy how create an information product here's how: 1. Go to Amazon.com and type in "bombay cat" there you can find a lot of physical books with 5 star ratings, I've seen $3.95, buy it then copy the outline but not the whole book. 2. Now that you already have the outline structure try to tweak the wordings. Make sure that you don't copy it word for word. 3. Go to eLance.com, GetAFreelancer.com or even here in DP and post the project for $150 ~ $300 to write your book. Just wait for few days for your new unique ebook! 4. Send me a PM when it's done so I can make a nice eCover for your new ebook for FREE just for taking my advise. It's not a joke...I just want to help. Regards, Gama
I have also been reaching ~250 visitors a day. I am only using adsense, and the bounce rate is not that much. I think visitors find my site pretty useful and visit again. I am constantly doing article marketing, social bookmarking etc. still the results are same. Although my traffic is consistent, I would like to see it go up every two weeks or so. What am I doing wrong?
If you are running adsense and your bounce rate is low like 50 ~ 60% then you're not making money. Why? Simply your visitors isn't clicking your ads, they simply just reading your contents for nothing. Does it make sense? If you want to make a good income with adsense simply confuse your visitors to click your ads, it's bad but that's the reality. Gama
That sounds about right. I am not making enough money with that much traffic with low bounce rate. But I try to make my contents useful so that users can read them and come back again for more. I have also seen many crappy sites making good money with not much interesting contents. Your logic makes sense. Let's see if I can tweak the ads on my site and make something worthwhile. Thanks man!
sad but true..Gama is right.. sometimes, i find some websites so good, i just read and read and read and finally close the browser... would have been the same for many other people too.. back to the topic.. I think it's not really good to link up many affiliates and PPCs together, but to focus on a couple of things only.. that's my two cents... I would probably focus more on content and quality of my site.. whereas doing possible big income ones.. though ur income from different sources are very similar. cheers
Thanks guys for all the responses. Sorry I haven't replied, been away. I like your advice bizhoop. Definitely going to look into it more. I'll also trim down all the ads I have running. We'll see what happens...
The same thing happens with me. 150-200 unique visits per day. What suggestion I got is 1, Better improvements of ads placement. 2, Better SEO approach. 3, Better design of your site.
