works better for what for what ?? you question too short if you are talking about marketing i would sponsoring a post is better then article submission as blog are becoming more and more common and people love to read blogs rather then articles. If you are talking about content management then my vote will again with blog posts. It easy to manage blog rather then a article website.
For the rank on google, i prefer some big article site, which get your articles beat most of other personal blog on google.
Google really seems to like EzineArticles. You always see their articles getting high rankings. IMHO, I can only assume that Google likes the idea of EzineArticles manually reading and approving every single article before posting.

Blogging and article marketing are both good ways of getting your brand out there. Article marketing to some extent has declined - you see lots of people using content spinners that churn out garbled non sensicle articles (people just want the SE benefits I guess).
I just received an email from EzineArticles.com the other day and they will no longer be approving articles that have been spun or are rehashes of the same old stuff. So now when you are going to submit an article to them you have to be sure that it is an original, unique one of a kind article or they will not approve it. Just thought I would share that.
A combination of both is best. Blogs are good for short entries, but when it comes to long topics that you need to go indepth with, an article is best.
Both have their own features and it depends on which you are expert in. Article submission is relatively having longer impact as compared to blog commenting but certainly it takes lot of efforts, hard work and time consuming.
articles are good. especially a well written article on articlesbase or ezinearticles because someone will copy it and use it on their site, giving you a free backlink.
I think over the long rum you want to do original high quality articles and post to relevant forms. The results can be pretty fast.
I think Blog posting is far better way to get the traffic.People usually look for a blogs which are small to read & which convey the whole story simply.For me i don't go for reading big big articles as i don't have much time.
