The only way it can affect you is if you moved onto an IP that has been blacklisted already!

Other than that ... you'll be ok!

If your site hosted by dedicated Ip then their is no chance to bad effect on seo point of view, For hosted by shared ip it may be affect if any one can use the black hat technique.

There'll be absolutely no effect unless the IP address in question has been blacklisted. So don't worry about it, ok? You'll be fine. :)

That makes absolutely no sense, webcosmo. I've changed hosting companies several times over the years and have YET to notice any effects on my rankings.

Simply put, Web hosting is as pointless to SEO as screen resolution is to Web design.

I meant he could do that without problem if the hosting is same. Even with different hosting within same geo location no problem. Now if you get hosting from a different geo location then yes its a problem. Because SE tend to use ip address to determine the geo location of the site. Now if you serve in usa and get a hosting from India, chances are very high you would rank better for that region. I am sure it wouldn't help business much. Hope I could explain now. :)

I know of one such company that changes the IP's for all their websites once a month. My sources have told me that it is for SEO but there is definitely something more to it and it should involve money because why would you change the IP addresses for 500 sites.

    Any thoughts?

If your site is on the same IP with any other site which is sandboxed then it is a good idea to change the IP of your sites.

I also belive this to be true. Geo location of your ip is one of the factor for search engine to determine to relevance of your content to a specific site. Content hosted in Canada will have better chance to rank better in google.ca
