I am completely new to running an online business, although I have been running my own personal blog for the past few months. www.artisticexpression.wordpress.com

However, this is about a new blog I created... I want to go in a completely new direction with this one. I actually want to create an income from it.... Not thousands per month like some bloggers claim to make, though that would be nice :) but something more realistic. It is a blog about the popular manga/anime series Dragon Ball Z. I will frequently update it with current news on DBZ related video games, live-action movies etc...

This is the blog as it is now www.allaboutdbz.wordpress.com

I know that purchasing a domain would be the best decision, so where can I find cheap domains but with decent quality?

Once I've got that out of the way, what would be the best way to market my blog??? Is pingomatic effective??? Tips from those experienced in this field would be greatly appreciated.

Get an account on Google Adsense and start placing Adsense code on your blog pages. Google will place related ads at those places on your pages. If you change your content frequently (daily, weekly) you could be placed hi up on the search engine.

First you should think out the domain yourself, and then go to godaddy.com to purchase it.Godaddy is the most
popular and trustworthy domain registrar. As to the promotion, you can use ppc.Make a wise budget and then
began your promotion. What's more, try to learn some knowledge on SEO,this also play an part.

Bad Idea. Wordpress.com doesn't allow you to put adsense in it, your blog can get deleted. The better idea it to sign up with blogger if you want to go the free way.

nothing in life is free, you have to spend before you can make
you have to pay for a domain, web hosting, etc... and then if you know what you're doing, you can make
    but it isnt easy

You can buy your domain from any registrar, so long as it's available. Godaddy and Namecheap are probably the top 2. Godaddy will try to upsell you on various services like email - once you own the domain and host it, you'll have email anyway, so ignore those.
Hosting - you can get good hosts for as little as $4.95 a month, I personally use Hostgator because their support is great (live chat 24/7) and the package allows me to add unlimited more domains as I want them, without charging me for each one. If budget is really tight, you can use something like Doteasy which gives you ad-free hosting for a one-off $50 setup cost, but doesn't give you a lot of flexibility in what you create, so putting widgets, blogs, adsense etc on could be problematic.

I have an article on setting up your first domain at my site:
    http://crystalsquest.com/articles/how-do-i-get-my-own-web-page/

Good luck - it's not as scary as it looks.
PS I just checked with them - their current coupon code is AUTUMN to get 20% off your first payment.

Your internet identity relies heavily on how well you chose your domain name. Some names are good, but to be able to get the most from the online community, you don’t need a good name. You need a powerful one.
The Domain must be related to the site content .When it comes to Hosting I prefer lacehost They Are too cheap and reliable .They provide hosting from $1.99/mo , its really good.
and no one can suggest u a domain as u have to think yourself u better read this article on

    How To Choose Domain name
. It will Help You a lot.

    thanks

Write PLR content/articles, focused on specific keywords, customizing the blog look and feel templates is also a good way.
And Submit you RSS feed and Blog URL to prominent RSS and Blog directories and search engines, may help people to find you faster.

Thanks for the advice.... Do you think a DBZ related website is actually a good idea though? Most of the hype behind it has died and I'm assuming many of my potential visitors may be teeny boppers... I don't know if that would effect my possible income.... but... anyway...

Would purchasing a domain for my personal blog be a better idea? www.artisticexpression.wordpress.com Unlike AllAboutDBZ, in my personal blog I'm not restricted to only one topic. I speak on many issues from religion to music, hiphop, rock, sometimes even politics and space exploration.... Pretty much anything goes on my personal blog. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the diversity in the topics talked about give me a better chance of standing out?

A good way to get known online is to comment on other blogs within your niche and link to them too. The site owners will come and look at your blog, and hopefully help you out :)

Well, there is that Dragon Ball MMO coming out that you could cover. But you'd need to offer an AMAZING variation on it in contrast with the other DB sites out there.
