What I would suggest is you find a golf course database for sale, you know, so you can actually have listings of actual golf courses. This would be good as the main focus of your site, and you can do article/blog postings to increase the visitors who find the site using longtail keyword phrases. A gold course db will probably cost you about 10-40 bucks and will probably have over 500 gold courses, this is great for increasing the amount of pages your site has indexed. As for layout, I'd do some research and find a better theme, but if you were going to use this theme I'd apply Google AdSense to the right sidebar only for now.
Looks pretty good. The FAQ page returns a 404 error. Some of the articles seem a bit stiff, may want to loosen them up a bit as they make the game sound rather dull. Highlight some of the fun aspects of the game and surrounding it. I have a 2 handicap and it's not a dull game.
I like the colors!! It livens up the site a lot. As for the Google ads, I agree about on the right side, under your tags. You could also put one between the articles - banner style vs box - so it's easy to read and doesn't take up lots of space. Good luck with the site!

The template and layout has a professional look and it was fine in loading too.Personaly i like the header image and the color of the text under 'tags' can be changed since it is not much visible now.
