Should you submit your site to one of those sites that say they will submit to 20 search engines for free, Are they for real is it effective?

Other than Google, Yahoo and Bing, no other search engines are of any benefit from traffic point of view. Most of your traffic will come from these search engines only. You can submit your site to them directly also. It takes equal amount of time depending upon your site whether you submit it directly or through some submission service.

Beware that asks you money for submitting your site to SEs. 99.99% are fraud.

Yeah, have also been there. You could submit them to the free ones. The maximum I paid for was $20 for each directory listing. I guess when you are new you are trying everything. But in the end you know that everything just takes time and dedication. There is no quick fix...

Completely agree. If there are 70 SEs out there, did anyone heard of them and how many people would really use them?

    Don't bother.
Get a few links to your site and Google, Yahoo and MSN will find you just as quick as if you submitted your site.

All you get from these site submitters is spam, you give them your email address and they sell it to as many people as they can
