Follow this basic outline for affiliate commissions (If you're new to IM, this is the most logical path you'll want to follow) 1) Goto a network such as clickbank, and find a product that people are emotionally attatched to. 2) Do some keyword research on that niche, find keywords that good good searches, yet little competition. These will usually be your long-tail's (3 or more words) 3) Create a Squidoo Lense, Auto-Blog, Hub Page, or Webpage (If you want to spend some $$) 4) Pick your highest performing Keyword, and write 5 articles based on that 1 keyword phrase. Then repeat this step for the next keyword phrase. - In the resource box of the articles, point it back to your best squeeze page. 5) Wait a week or so, find out which webpage(s) or article(s) are ranking the highest in google, then start sending backlinks. 6) Watch the traffic pout In, and start over from step one with a new niche. Join an affiliate program, and promote that product/service through PPC. Of course, the organic traffic from the search engines is the best, but it's almost impossible to get a good position there with today's competition.
The best internet marketing strategies are those that work for you. For example, some niche's are great for PPC, others, it takes a lot more work to be successful in that area. If your site is content related, article marketing may not be the best idea for you. See, you have to have a marketing plan that fits your site, not just a generic marketing plan that people will spew off around here. Be logical and think about how you could most easily contact those interested in what you are offering. Go to where they are!

I like using banner ads from different advertisers (such as adsense, adbrite, etc.) then utilizing mass marketing strategies including services which use pop under windows. I've found you can drive a lot of traffic at a fairly low cost, and even though the traffic is not targeted if you have a good looking site you should be able to get a fair percentage of them to look around which can help in driving ad revenue or revenue from affiliate programs. I advertised with adwords for awhile and it was far too expensive for what I got. I now tend to use sites like submissionmadesimple.com or others which use a cache of my site in a pop under window (which doesn't use up my bandwidth until the user starts looking around) and then allow me to track how many visitors my site has been shown to (since raw logs won't always record the visit unless the user looks around). Sorry for being long winded, but that's my tid bit on how I market my site. Give you website a good design, good depth of content, and then get it in front of as many eyes as possible.

There isn't any one tried and true way to make money on the internet. The key is first to figure out what your strengths are and then you can begin to leverage those for profit. To use myself as an example: I love writing and researching so I make money online as a content and copy writer for people who need blog posts, article marketing, press releases etc. It works well for me because it is flexible and I am good at it. I keep a personal blog because I love a more casual approach to essay writing and hope to someday be a humor writer (think Erma Bombeck, Dave Barry, etc). What do you love to do? How can you sell it? Answer those questions and you'll be able to make plenty of $$ online. Good luck!
If you don't have your own product, you can buy Private Label Rights (PLR) to sell someone else's product as if it was your own. Many times, you will even get a sales letter already done. All you do is upload it to your host and start selling.
