What would be the best way to market a forum?

and what would be the best way to get people posting?

see its hard to get people to join when no one is posting, but no one is going to post if there is no one on the forum to talk to. its a direct corelation.

Advice please... If you would like to see the forum my team and i are working on in order to better help us with your advice check out http://forums.proxywrek.com

    Thanks in advance.

A way to get people to post is having something to talk about. Today everyone runs a message board, be creative people. Offtopic bulletin boards are out, if you want to create a community look for the smallest possible niche there is and build on that. You don't need paid posters, be the first one and people will post by themselves.

Try to promote it in related forums and make sure you abide the rule of the forums so that you'll not be banned.
Also, you can use ppc to promote it.As to the question how can make people post there.I think first it needs ways
to make your forum useful and attractive. What's more, you can add some incentive for posting.Well, good luck.

First off you've made the biggest mistake when creating a forum - adding too many sub-forums, you may look at boards like this one and see all the busy sub forums they have, but they didn't start like that. Start with 2 - 3 sub forums, as they grow and you have enough active members, add another one and then another one. People won't join a board that looks dead and they won't participate in dead sub forums.

Content is important, write articles and tutorials - things that people actually want to read.

Paid posters is one way to go but when all your paid posters have stopped your real members will wonder whats happened. Create 10 - 20 usernames and talk to yourself for weeks.

Remember that the forum won't grow itself, you have to put a lot of time into it.

    In the beginning:

    -Forum swaps

-Post your own information and build backlinks to your own forum and other websites.

    -Paid to post.

    -Article marketing.

-Blogs, newsletters, social media and other types of broad cast.

You can see in my test forum where I've used articles written by other people and posted my own stuff. It's not my primary focus at the moment as I have not even broadcast it to the thousands of readers that I have. It's not ready for that yet.

Forum Marketing is simple, also it is like any other niche based business.

Simply go to a forum within your niche and start socializing, make some signatures and you
    should be good.

If you want to go real hardcore then hire someone to do your forum posting for you.

    Here's a little trick.

Post some useful content and make a signature.

    Nobody look at my signature!
