This may be a stupid question, but my research and testing has shown interesting results.

I have a website, lets call it www.AbcBabys.com

Lets say my main keywords are Abc Babys, Abc High Chair and Abc Play Yard (all baby products).

For my main keyword, Abc Babys, I rank #1, very easy, within 30 days.

After ranking #1 for my main keyword i started backlinking for my other keywords using the main domain name only (abcbabys.com). I am having great results as using this method, most keywords are top 5 within 30 days now.

However, my question is, I have WP pages setup using the other keywords, for example, www.abcbabys.com/abc-high-chair/post-name-here.html .

I am NOT using this link when backlinking, im using the main domain name (abcbabys.com).

My keywords are not that difficult in terms of competition so I am wondering if google prefers me using the full link (www.abcbabys.com/abc-high-chair/post-name-here.html) or if using the main domain is exceptable and treated the same (abcbabys.com)

Can some pros give me some insite please? :) it would be VERY appreciated!

Google prefers the most relevant links possible. If your home page is more relevant contextually speaking, then it'll prefer that. The same goes for your interior pages as well.

relevant contextual backlinks are fine but high PR? i think not. an irrelevant site practicing spam link building methods may have high PR but having a link from such high PR site will not help much. instead of PR, lets focus on relevancy and quality
