All of a sudden I started receiving traffic from China. Steady 50-200 visitors per day, every day. Not increasing, not decreasing for over 6 months. Before that I was receiving mostly USA traffic. Can anyone help me to understand what are the possible reasons why I could start receiving China traffic? I didn't do any promotion in Cina and I was never interested in traffic from there.
log in to your google analytic and check with keyword or content page that bring traffic from china. Try to find any affiliate that offer service in china and locate that affiliate link in that content.
Thank you for your replies guys. I don't have main keyword yet. This is just a simple DVD store. All movies sold are US movies. But now I've been able to realize that 95% of China traffic is direct traffic I was using Advanced Segments option in Google Analytics (thanks to Santhana). Now I'm confused even more. How come that Chinese visitors are going directly to my site. From my understanding direct traffis is when a user types the domain into a webbrowser or uses a bookmark from his favorites links...
they are all after your steven Seagal movies but seriously I am getting a increase of traffic from Hong kong this past week as well. I had one user have 25 open sessions.
look deeper into your china traffic: - what user-agent does that china traffic have ? - what pages are entry pages? i had lots of china traffic - but years ago figured out that it all is automated traffic from a huge IP network - MANY thousands of IPs across all CN - mainly directed toward a limited nr of pages on my site and al using same user-agent = NO browser ! mainly: - Indy Library - libwww-perl I figured that out after looking at the entry pages - pages without any considerable interest that would justify an increases number if visitors from SE ... the only purpose of that traffic is to create fake non-existing chineese internet activities across the globe = to pretend to be big and thus to attract financing and investment meanwhile all such traffic creating / load creating IPs are blocked via iptables
so is this real or fake? User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.0; Trident/4.0; GTB6; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30618; OfficeLiveConnector.1.4; OfficeLivePatch.0.0; Zune 4.0) that is from hong kong
Thank you everyone. Hans, Coud you please point me in the right difection for finding user-agent data in Google Analitycs? Under browsers for China traffic I see Internet Explorer 96.49%... Average time on site is 6 seconds. So obviously it is some kind of fake traffic. Thank you!
i never use google analytics for my access-statistics I use offline tools ( a MODIFIED version of webalizer ) and have all access_log files offline daily for complete detailed access control/overview in addition, fake traffic sources may progress and change user agents as well to simulate real traffic even more. but for me as of now it still are the 2 user-agents a.m. check access log data and see if such CN traffic has a particular preferred entry page and if that entry page makes sense ( good SEO, interesting keywords, etc ( to justify above average traffic
