I have a forum, and there is always spammers post junk on my forum and I have recorded most of their IPs.

I hope other forum owners can also post the list of IPs they ban from the spammer. We can join and fight the forum spamming.

Here is the stuff spammers post. I keep everything except porn

I am not as advance on legal issues yet as I am still studying law at an early stage. But is it not, That if your TOS statement that users have to agree with says you will not pass on any information about them without there permission. You passing on the IP address is in direct violation of the TOS.

I would recommend you change your TOS telling users that you may pass on the IP address to a third party. As right now you are opening yourself up for legal action.

I am all for giving out the list of SPAMMER as I do a run a forum and get spammer daily but you still need to follow the law and also your TOS that you have on your site.

Maybe we can get someone who is fully qualified to comment on this as I am not (yet anyway)

First of all I run my forum my way. That means that all info given to me by users is mine to do with as I see fit. I created the TOS and amend it as it suits me. Especially if they are spammers that are ruining the forum with advertisements they didn't pay for. Furthermore most of these IPs are from Russia and Eastern Europe. Let them try to sue me. I hate these bastards, I'm with everyone else, let's work together to stop them.

Here is my list of spammer IPs
    216.169.162.30
    66.28.32.45
    69.140.149.206

I have always had image verification on my forum but the bots are getting pretty good and were able to get passed that. I recently updated my image verification to be stronger and haven't had any spam since.

I recommend that as a first step.

I have also banned certain domain email addresses from registering since a lot of them have similar patterns.

    *.ru

One big draw back about image verification.

A lot of times when I register on a web, their image verification is just so hard to read and I decided to give up, but that's just me.

I also found most the accounts were from Russian sites. I think this was more effective than blocking IP addresses as people can just surf through a proxy giving them a differnt IP address.

Also, set your board so members have to verify their email address as many sign up with fake emails in the first place.

I would personally recommend using image verification on sign up and have found since I upgraded to 3.6.1 on vB the amount of spammy accounts being created has dropped quite a bit.
