    Hi,

Just been GIVEN 2 domain names
    Example: mysite.com and my-site.com

    both have a pr3

which one should i use? how can i tell the age of the domains? back links? etc ...

one of the domains used to rank very very well on a big keyword but im not sure which one? but this leads me to think that the one that did rank really well must have had good back links with this keyword as the anchor text? how can i see the text link value for each back link?

Generally speaking, most of the people will gp with the mysite.com, because as we all know dashes, underscores or any other characters within your domain name that may cause confusion.

This may lead people to go to the site with the same address as yours but no dash. This means not only will you lose traffic, if the site is similar you are transferring it to your competitors.

I would say the 1st one but as both have a PR3 they both must be seen to be good as one another.

I would use them both. Make website.com your main page and 301 redirect the other one to point at website.com

I prefer to have my hands on the first site.

People tend to forget about the hyphens all the while and its confusing, anyway.

Using http://whois.domaintools.com/ to check the age and remaining information about the site being bought would do more good.

Also check at www.domainscope.com and you can google for backlink checkers.

Hypens in the domain!! its so confusing. Select the first one www.mysite.com that would be better to remember.

You would have more traffic if you don't have the hyphen in your domain name. Those types of websites cause confusion to users because your domain isn't that popular yet, and those unique visitors might not come back because of the hyphen.

    Yugo,
    :)
