I chuckle every time I see threads titled "new PR5 directory" or "brand new 12 year old directory". It doesn't take a genius to figure out what kind of game these people are running.

not sure what you guys are talking about... its showing PR 5 in google toolbars.. Will post its validity laters... About the free links, you need to have a reciprocal link to have a free link in the directory. Most of the free directories show a Free Regular link, but finally ask you to put up a reciprocal link. I have only made it crystal clear :). Nothing much :D

As for the backlinks, you can check yahoo backlinks to get an exact measure of the number of backlinks. google does not show the exact number of backlinks. For eg, one of my domain has 8K + backlinks in google webmasters, but when i search the links:sitename.com, it shows only 140 backlinks. So forget the query you ahve given there, its all a bullshit. Check yahoo for the right number of backlinks and then check the page ranks of the backlinks the domain has. The page rank is here to stay :)

No such animal. You are asking for something for the site to be accepted, so it isn't free.

I have 14 directories and I don't ask for a recip....2 are free at the moment and the rest are paid directories. All are updated to PHPld licensed 3.4's and one was just updated to 4.0 script.
As far as the PR here to stay as you say on one of your posts, I hope your right but I have seen hundreds of sites go from 5 to 0 and I know some other people will agree with that. I am not knocking your directory and again hope you have better luck with yours than I have had with mine over the years.
