IMO, submitting your site to Google via http://www.google.com/addurl/ is not "BAD SEO" however in many cases it doesn't seem necessary since Google will most likely become aware of your website anyway when it finds hyperlinks to your website when crawling other websites.

Exactly... It's not BAD SEO, just unnecessary... Search engines have been discovering sites via inbound links since the beginning of time it seems. Some "say" it's better to have them discover your site naturally.

Instead of add url isn't it better to set up google webmaster for your site?

I usually just set up google analytics on my sites, and I get indexed within the week.It is so easy to get listed on google without asking them to review your site (which takes forever). Add google analytics to your website and it should get picked up pretty soon

I assume you're referring to a brand new site. It's not considered bad seo, because otherwise Google would not offer you an opportunity to do so, but it just isn't necessary. You can get your site indexed by Google quite easily through backlinks and other methods.

I usually find it better to let them find them naturally as well. My sites that are found naturally have more pages indexed and out of the supplemental results.

Don't worry about building links in NOFOLLOW blogs and forums. NOFOLLOW simply means that page rank won't leak from the site you a posting a link on to your site.

The search engines still follow these links but you don't get a page rank boost from it.

    Hope that helps,
    Corey

Get backlinks, submitting your stuff to them, doesnt mean you will have automatic inclusion in the search engine. You would get your site up in google and other search engines by just getting backlinks, anyway you can, i am sure i do not need to explain backlinks to you, there are many informative posts on the forum about that very subject.

Yeah. It is not a bad SEO. But it is not necessary. Because if you have quality content, your site will be crawled automatically, so there is no need for search engine submission.
