    I also notice that quite a few sites don't allow it.

    I am trying to promote a hybrid article|web directory service using a network of blogs to publish posts across. The network has about 19 active blogs in it now. The only thing in your list we cannot do is provide free listings. The big gain is in the contextual links - we allow contextual links and don't limit them (within a "I know it when I see it" satuaration point) like many other people do.

    Since our tag line is "You write the post - we publish it!", writers may be interested in using the network to get their work out there. Check my first signature link for more info - or drop me a PM.

    I'd say thats notably different then an article directory. My sites already appear in many different blogs. Article directories tend to get a different type of traffic then blogs, which is why i try to get blog and articles seperatly.

    I understand - then my network would be best for getting backlinks - not the further distribution of an article, which I am guessing is the traffic you are looking for from article directories. Thanks for the feedback!

    I found a new article directory that is growing at an amazing rate. Back in May of this year (2009) it started with about 2,000 articles and now it has almost 15,000 articles. They have a presence on Twitter and a nice blog and are very author friendly. I like that they post a spotlight article each day which gives the author and article even more publicity.     Remember nofollow links are still crawled and used for discovery.
