Well I was re-designing my website when I came across a doubt regarding SEO and google indexing preferences. This is regarding the second site in my signature[Mp3 Search Engine], as you can see I have added the latest 100 searches and the Top 10 songs on my home page for SEO..but I was wondering if I could make a seperate page where I could have those links and then link to that page from my Home page and if it would have any effect on my ranking for those songs on google. Currently I am getting 70% Organic traffic and most of which is because of the 100 searches links, but I am afraid that putting those 100 links on a seperate page would reduce their importance in the eyes of the Big G. Any comments and suggestions are welcome.
Optimize for your target audience and not for Search Engines. What I understand was, you're making a new page from the second website that has links to your first website, Am I right? It's not advisable since the two sites has no relevance to each other except for the fact that you own them. However, you can just make a banner ad instead.
SOME IMPORTANT SUGGESTIONS Your site has alphabetic search feature, embed feature, playlist feature and much more.. but looks like all is prepared for search engines. Your browse by alphabet feature is not noticeable . Also the 100 songs are not readable because they are not formatted. Those 100 links are ok at home page , in fact nice.. But there must be something that holds visitors. If there is nothing that makes visitors stay, register and come back.. SEO wont do any good because low time on page stats lead to low page rank .. you can get better page rank for no extra Off Page SEO .. work on in page SEO and also on Visitor interactivity.. 1. Make you font a bit larger and more stylish . 2. Highlight your features somehow. let people notice and use them. 3. Try something unique which fascinate visitors ( like say, Vertical Browse by Alphabetic list ! ) 4. Make the top 10 songs and last 100 searches readable. See the Attached Image for some Ideas.. Please appreciate if it helped you
Well I do have an "ok" average time on site, about 7mins..also thanks for the detailed answer. I will take all of that into consideration when I am creating a new design. Here is what I came up with before I read your post: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1510081 Obviously it requires lots more work, but I'll eventually get there @zaizai Thats not what I meant, I should have been more clearer..What I asked what whether I should have a seperate page on my site for the Tag Cloud[100 recent searches] like domain.net/tagcloud or should I leave it as it is right now.
