This is the interview Seth gave me some time back. I am putting it in this section because he is what i would call a marketing guru and his advice (through his books or not) are priceless for any marketer. So here is the interview i conducted with him 1. Why did you start writing books? Is it because you loved them or simply to get some money? I love reading books and it’s important to me to spread ideas. Books seemed like a great way to do that without starving at the same time. But it’s a pretty dumb way to make a living. 2. What was the turning point in your career? This interview! Actually, I would say the decision to art direct the cover of Permission Marketing in such a way to make it a book by an AUTHOR (all caps). At the time, that was a very gutsy way to pitch a business book. 3. If you were put into the position that you could wither write books or just write on blogs, which would you choose and why? Blogs, for sure. I get to do that every day. 4. Do you think you deserve to hold the position of owning the number one marketing blog in the world? Not at all. “Deserve†is such a loaded word, though. Most of us don’t deserve the great opportunities we have, or the lucky breaks. The question shouldn’t be “do you deserve it†I think it should be, “what are you going to do with it. 5. Would you sell your blog if bill gates (or any such billionaires) offered you good money? If I sold my blog it wouldn’t be my blog, would it? 6. Do you think now that the blogosphere is too much cluttered, new marketing blogs can make it this far as you have reached? Oh, certainly. I’m not going to have this sort of platform forever. It’s like being Jack Benny in 1948. Interesting, but it’s the beginning, not the end. 7. There are so many marketing sites that promise you so and so. How do you spot the scammers at one go? Easy. Don’t send money to anyone. 8. What will be your one liner tip for the people entering this marketing field? Start! It’s free, it’s easy, start.
It's nice to hear some appreciation when I post it directly into DP without trying to lead Dpians to my site Seth is a marketing Guru. You can read some of his books like Purple cow etc
