    Hi,
While submittng a site in the site dmoz.org,is it important to check the Page Rank also? While submitting certain sites in dmoz,we have noticed that
appropriate categories for certain sites do not have PR(NA) state.

Is it important that the location where we are submittng a site need to have a good PR?

    Regards
    Mellisa

After many years of trying to figure out logic behind acceptance into dmoz directory, my personal opinion is: there is none. Quality of sites listed in some categories is questionable.Still, for some reason many( like Google) relays on
dmoz. That is only reason I would like to have my site listed there. Will it happen ever? Maybe, but not because I have great site and I did follow guidelines for submission. More likely, category moderator may accidentally click and approve my site.

DMOZ editors are extremely strict in making sure submissions are placed in the most relevant and accurate category possible. If you hope to get your site listed, you should ignore PR and try your best to get it listed at all.

its a human edited directory, so I dont think PR got anything to do. however quality of site could impress the editor.

PR is not important. If your website is nice, it will be added.

Submit it to the most relevant category, submitting to the wrong category because of pr will probably get your submission rejected

you submit your site to dmoz after few years and even get no notification,
they even don't let you know the submission is reviewed or not,
    forget dmoz, let it die!

DMOZ is not a magical formula for top Google rankings as it only would provide one single backlink after all. After submitting your website, forget about it.

Pretty much. Submit it into the correct category and never worry about it again. You may get an editor in that category who is actually good at what they do and quickly add it in if it;s good enough. Don't hold your breath though.

dmoz is horrid. for one site i submitted, the category had like 3 sites that had been shut off still listed and the site i listed was designed about 10x nicer than the other listings but i haven't heard a thing as far as it being listed and it's been 3-4 months. They can go "pound sand" as far as im concerned.

What has PR got to do with it? You submit it to the one best category for your site. Thats all.

mellisajohn, I think your original question was misunderstood.

In fact category's PR is important because Google will use it to calculate your URL's PR —if your site gets listed. Please don't forget that getting listed on DMOZ is almost impossible mission, today. But if you are just about to suggest it. You have to be cleaver while selecting a target category for your suggestion.

You suggested a site. Thank you. But it is a suggestion and it may take from a few days to several years to get a review. Sorry nice sites fair no better than nasty sites in DMOZ, its the content we are looking at.

That's absolutely retarded. LOL If it's a nasty site as you say. How can the content be good when the site doesn't even work that you link to? You just lost ALL credibility.. LOL

What twisted logic. A site that does not have modern flashy content cannot have any good content. Sorry, I see many sites that are not terribly well constructed and their content is spot on, so I list it. I see many sites with all the latest flash stuff on and the content is not unique so I reject it. Simple.
