Hello guys, i'm a health and fitness advocate who created a health/weight loss supplement that really works and has hundreds of satisfied customers. The thing is - I want thousands, tens of thousands of repeat customers. We did a google CPC campaign, but honestly the results were pretty poor. The bounce rate was higher than I would expect for such a nice landing page. ANyhow, I'm starting to look into CPA and affiliate marketing, but dont know where start as an advertiser. Can you point me in the right direction(s)? thanks!
I'm not surprised that the Google campaign results were sketchy. You're competing with arguably the most aggressive vertical in affiliate marketing. Acai berries, colon cleansing, even Maqui berries more recently...you've got these guys bidding on the same keywords. Your problem is going to be that you're competing with the rebill business model. These rebill guys are giving away their product on a free trial (which isn't very free as you probably know). Even though you're more legit, try telling that to the majority of Google surfing America. If you want to recruit CPA affiliates, you're going to have to think about how you can provide a business model which is more attractive to them than a $40 per free trial lead. Although of course, the weight loss supplement industry is so huge - you'd only need a tiny percentage of it to be a very rich man.
didnt google ban the free trial ads? thanks for your advice btw. are there any affiliates that focus on real stuff that works, not just the flavor of the minute thats "bangin" right then?
What's your product? How much are you willing to spend? What do you want the methods of promotion for your product to be? Are you willing to pay up front?
the product is called Liporidex: The multitasking Health and Weight Loss Supplement. it retails for $49.99. I'm willing to spend $15 per completed sale. In terms of promotion, only legit methods that don't depend on spamming. I'm only willing to pay per completed action. what kinds of commisions do affiliates usually see? (% or flat fees?)
My concern is it doesn't matter how great the product is if the site can't convert. If your Adwords conversions were low then you should work on getting your conversion rates up before starting an affiliate program. Once you get affiliates it's much harder to do conversion testing and optimization - that's easiest done with PPC. Plus affiliates work for free unless you make sales, so it's not fair to them to promote something with weak conversion rates. Plus I agree with finchsells it's going to be tough to compete to get affiliates with all the rebills out there offering $40 per sale. We know that most of those offers are pretty scammy but still many affiliates look primarily at how much they can make.
i agree there are a bunch of junk pills out there on the market that are doing really well and on the other hand there are pills that work really well but no one knows about them. in order to get your pill out there you need to find a marketing company that can package your product
well...the marketing company that I hired basically knew very little re: internet marketing. Their plan was for me to spend $2500 on an online banners (local reach). The problem was that eh CTR of the 300K impressions was .05% (yes, thats correct). in terms of packaging to you mean retail packaging? or the online marketing package? If there's anybody on here that wants to help "package" the online sales part let me know, $15/each sale is waiting...
First off, you don't even have a true landing page in place. What you have is an product home page and e-commerce storefront. A large reason for your ads not converting is the site itself. I think the ad banners and placement is an entire oversell. I think the best way for you to approach this product here is to create a gateway where you can collect email addresses and then redirect your subscribers to specific parts within the e-commerce website you have laid out. As far as affiliates goes -- this is a total bust. I clicked on the affiliate sign up and there's little to no information regarding compensation plan in store for affiliates that do decide to promote your product line to potential customers. Nowadays, it takes a heck of lot to get more affiliates to take you up on your offer, especially if there is no recurring monthly commission plan in place. All in all, that's my advice from one professional to another. And I would highly suggest you get together with the webmaster and do some heavy reconstruction on the affiliate page because there's just nothing there in place that screams any benefits I would be getting for signing up. JJ
okay...thats what I'm talking about! jj any suggestions on creating a landing page? pm with any ideas on the content for affiliate pages (how are they typically structured etc) - thanks!
Not surprised with your results with PPC. Previously, I did some SEO and PPC work for a weight loss company and results were disappointing. I don't think PPC is the right channel to market weight loss products because of the high cost per click and low conversion rates. I would recommend SEO and affiliate marketing for your type of industry. Check out CJ.com, MarketHealth.com or MoreNiche.com.
Before you get any affiliates, you really need to have a wide set of marketing tools in place that affiliates can attend to to make promoting the product(s) that much easier... And that in itself, is something that needs to be tested and tweaked so that affiliates will see much better results. Most affiliates are marketers and promoters, NOT ad copywriters or written authors for the products they do promote via the web. Everything needs to be simplified and tested. I know it's not good news, but it will save you big dividends in the long run.
Let me know if you need multivariate testing for your site to make conversions ridiculous - you need high conversions for many many affiliates to join with them promoting your products
