If you can't get rid of it after antibiotic treatment and if it last longer than expected, than a minor surgery is the only solution.

Some home remedies may work as well if its not too serious, like inhaling chamomile.

There was something on tv about a new sinus technique. Think it said used a balloon something like they do in heart surgery. No incisions. Out patient procedure. YOu can return to work the following day. I would definately look into that before surgery.

A study from the University of Wisconsin, School of Medicine demonstrates that an easy and inexpensive treatment is just as effective at treating these symptoms as the drug therapies.

Researchers recruited 150 people for the study. All participants were over the age of 18 and had to have at least 2 symptoms of chronic sinusitis (see above). All participants were instructed to continue using whatever medication they were using for sinusitis for the duration of the study.

The study consisted of 3 groups, two groups who performed nasal irrigation with hypertonic saline solution (aqueous solutions sodium chloride of greater than 65%)using either a bulb syringe, or with a nasal irrigation pot. The third group in the study used reflexology massage (the irrigation control group).

The groups using irrigation performed daily hypertonic irrigation for two weeks with one method, and then switched to the other method for the next two weeks. The control group performed reflexology massage daily for 2 weeks. The data that was collected included daily medication use, subjective reports from the subjects and preference of those involved as to irrigation method.

Overall 36% of the subjects in the study reported decreased use of sinus medication (these include decongestants, antihistamines, pain relievers and nasal sprays during the study. Neither method of irrigation was preferred by the participants, and neither method was reported as being more effective.

The researchers concluded that the study demonstrated that daily nasal irrigation improves chronic sinusitis and that it is an effective and inexpensive treatment alternative. During the course of the study a number of patients decreased or eliminated the medications they were using. Interestingly the control group (using reflexology) also reported improvement in their symptoms.

If you suffer from chronic sinusitis, you might find this to be an effective treatment. As always be sure to check with your physician who can tell you if this treatment is right for you.

As far as I remember it takes about 2 weeks to be cured without surgery, so be patient.

Gosh, sorry to hear you've been sick for so long... it sucks! :(

What do you mean by sinus sickness?? Like a sinus infection?? If so, have you tried a saline solution?? The saline will kill the bacteria in your nose and you might want to add an anti-histamine to dry you out. That'll get rid of the moist area for bacteria to grow.

You can buy different kinds at the store or make up your own batch...

    http://allergies.about.com/cs/sinus/ht/salinesolution.htm

The only thing bad about making up your own is you don't have an easy way to spray it UP there.

If it's allergies and nothing over the counter works... go to the doctors! I have REALLY bad allergies and got a prescription for Alegra... that stuff works good!

For a temporary and instant relief of a closed nose or sinus headache try Vicks Sinex. I like the 12 hour Fine Mist kind. I say temporary cuz you're not supposed to use it more than three days in a row! You can use it once a day for three days and then have to take a couple days off of it. Anyway, it's awesome but read the directions!

I hope you feel better soon. Nose/sinus issues can be miserable. :(

I got treated for sinus, its just a minor surgery, gets over in less than 30 minutes.

But it did seriously relieved me, i was getting sick of the daily headaches. How bad is your blockage? Did you get an x-ray?

I till have allergies and have sneezing almost 12 months, i consulted many doctors about this, but everybody says it wont go away permanently, there are only short term solutions available.

Hi all, thanks for all the information given. Thank you from me. My sinus is still bugging me off with the headache but the nose is now completely cleared from any blockage.

I've try inhale chamomile yesterday. I put some Vick Vapourub at my nose and my forehead. One of my friends come visited me and give me a facial massage and i put some warm cloth at my forehead yesterday.

Now, as the headache is still on, i think it will gone within a day or two.

BTW, thanks for all your support.

    Hi cencurut,

My mum has suffered very badly with sinusitus. Her's has been brought on by an allergy to mould. Go to an allegenic specialist and get tested for common allegenic things like pollen, pet hair and house dust etc.

Good luck and please update us with any treatments you find.

The latest solution i try is using Homeopathy solution. The homeopathy doctor gives me some tablet to lower my headache and now my blocked nose is already cleared. I do take more Vit C and eat more fruits like guava and carambola.

I had it for months.Saw 3 or 4 different doctors who all gave me different stuff to take but to no avail. The next doctor who saw me was only a temp and as luck would have it he knew exactly what was wrong.Sinus blockage.Told me all of the symptoms I had but hadn't mentioned to him.

He told me to take Sudafed tabs (don't know if you can get them in your country) and said it would be 10 days to two weeks before I would feel the benefit.Sure enough two weeks later I was a new person after suffering for months. It didnt seem to be working at all for the first week but came good as he said.Pure luck on my behalf.Follow the treatment for at least 2 weeks.

I was also sick sinus. I had surgery on the nose, but the result is not good.
I was always taking antibiotics, when sinus attacks. I thought, that's not good because eating chemical drugs... :(

Now, I'm trying herbal medicine, so far so good. I'm not easily hurt anymore.
My advice, try using Elken Spirulina and... :)
pray to God for your health...
