728x90 Displaying SMALL ads?

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by ttomp13, Aug 23, 2009.

Has anyone negative experiences with the 728x90 ad banner? For some reason,
they like to display small ads over big ones, even though I say to display big.

    Anyone else had this happen?

Here's a picture: (Top is my problem) (Bottom is what I want)

to the best of my knowledge, you have no control over the size of the text links with that size of ad. However, you can choose if you want 4 or 5 links displayed which will affect the size of the text.

What you mean by small ads? You mean small fonts?
If that's it, you can change it from Adsense Control Panel to show bigger fonts.

Dude! Your screen name is tight. Lol.

Anyway, do you think you can tell me how to decide if I want 4 or 5 links to display?

That'd be really helpful, man. Thanks.

I have them set to display LARGE fonts. AdSense will display large fonts
for the 336x280 and 300x250, but not the 728x90.

No matter what I do, AdSense displays an extremely small font for the 728x90
banner ad, even though I say MEDIUM / BIG. I've tried both. Anyway, I would
like my ad to look like this... the way joel comm has it.

Does anyone know how I can go about doing this?

    That's not true..
I have seen laderboards showing large fonts. Even the BST section of DP shows 728x90 ads with large fonts.

FOR ME, DUDE. I know it doesn't do this for everyone. I just took
a screen cap. Did you see it above?

The top screen is my ad displaying a small font, even though I said
to display a large one. The bottom ad is what I would like my ad
    to look like.

In my experience the only time that happened was when I didn't have enough content on my site, so the ads could only be displayed 3 at a time because there weren't enough keywords on the site to relate to. Just try adding some more keywords to your site and see if that does anything.

Yeah. It's annoying, right? I figured out that it will randomly display font sizes
between large and small OR medium and small, depending on how you have it
    set up.

Currently, it doesn't look like there is anything that we can do to make the 728x90
ad just display a large or medium font. No matter what, it will sometimes cycle back
    to small.

I've contacted AdSense regarding the issue...
    -------------------------------------------

    Hi AdSense Support.

I'm having some trouble with the 728x90 ad format.
For some reason, I can't get it to display a medium or large font size.

I don't have this problem with the 336x280 or the 300x250 ad format.
I only have this problem with the 728x90 ad format.

I have gone ahead and attached an image that will display my problem.

The top ad in the photo, is my 728x90 ad displaying a small font
size even though I said to display a large one.

The bottom ad in the photo is a 728x90 ad from a random website
I pulled up. This is the size that I would like my 728x90 ad to display.

Is there anything that I can do to fix this problem? I have gone through each possible
size, but nothing has increased the font size that I would like.

    Thanks for your support.
    I'll appreciate your response.

I still haven't had a reply from AdSense.
Has anyone else been noticing this major issue?

Hope you find a solution soon. It can really frustrating when you need a specific format and for some reason you can't get it.

My sites are all doing that to - and it happens totally inconsistently. I can refresh the page and they will be the large (default) size, and then I refresh it again and they're small.

I have no idea if it's a glitch or its intentional. My guess is it may be some experimentation they are doing - if you have multiple ads on a page, they may be trying to "minimize" the appearance of one set of ads so the other stands out more. That's just a guess.
