I hit the 1000 followers mark a few days ago.

Twitter can be a boon, if you channel the traffic cleverly.

 

The suggestions sound good, for what Twitter is.

For me though, I found it more of an annoyance and quit using it.

Although it seems more streamlined for sending messages than bulk emails, depending on what someone does.

 

pyrogenic media has a twitter adder, does like 100 followers a day . u can add by keyword too.

You are right, it needs to be targeted. If you don't find a niche to work on, then the traffic will not be quality... or even quantity... You will not get anyone clicking on your tweets if you don't target a certain market.

 

I'm approaching 11,000 followers (in my main account) even though I flip-flop between self-help and internet marketing and promoting my copywriting services and my blogging course -- hey, self-help types need to know how to market their stuff too, don't they?

I agree. Everyone needs the help. It is hard to keep up but if you try your best to interact with as many as you can, you will eventually do well. Twitter is a place to find many nodes of interaction...
